I used the Progressive unit as well. I like that you can read current status on the digital display, plus the error codes, if any. It has saved our coach a number of time from both high and low power. I would not plug in without one. After the low power problem occured a few times, I added a Hughes Autoformer as well. In combination, the two work very well. I have wired them as follows: coach to the surge protector to the autoformer to the cord to a power pedestal at the campground. I used hard wired plugs and recepticals so that I could unplug the autoformer if I ever need to, since it might be the first to go in a bad situation.

We have the progressive 50 AMP hardwire. It monitors your coaches electical situation continually with a digital readout. It's saved us a couple of times. It's also a module unit that can be easily repaired. If a problem occurs, it will indicate exactly what module needs to be replaced. You call Progressive, they ship the appropriate part, you install it yourself, and you're back in action. Additionally, it can be removed and intalled in future coaches.

"Additionally, it can be removed and intalled in future coaches. "
that would be true for any of the permanent or plug in ones. when My friend installed a hard wired one, instead of cutting the original cord, I suggested he just buy a 3 ft long piece of the appropriate sized wire and just jumper it in, so he could easily restore it to factory specs if he traded.

Ok, first to the O/P.. I have basically the same device on my RV
For spike protection it's as good as it says it is (Compare joules to the other surge guards)
For over/under voltage..it does nothing.. Most of the R/V "surge guards" contain over/under voltage proteciton (if you plug in to say 95 volts, they simply turn off, or if you plug into 150 volts, they turn off, if you plug into 120 volts they smile upon your power and let it through)
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business
