Greetings:

Well, my TT finally arrived and I traded in the PUP. I'm well along the way to "outfitting" it, but winter's coming eventually so it will go into storage in a couple of months.

We live in Denver, and while we don't get a lot of snow normally, we get a lot of sun in the Summer. Seriously.

What's your advice and experience in covers for the air conditioner and awning? A/C covers seem to be available everywhere, but there's no mention of awning covers either at CW or any of the other online RV stores that I can find.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have an aluminum cover that fits over my awnings - part of the awning material that it is attached to, and I really wanted that because of the sun fading part of the awning on a friend's RV.

Now that my RV is over 12 years old, I am really glad that I have them, because the fabric is well portected by the aluminum cover, and the awning material basically stays dry in the rain, and still looks new, with no mold issues.

I have never considered covering my A/C unit. The cover seems to hold up well to the sun, and should hold up well to the snow and hail.

You might do more damage walking on the roof to install and remove the A/C cover than the damage that might (or probably never happen) happen if the A/C was never covered.

Fred.

I to like the awning covers and they sure keep the awnings looking great around here. Spring in Va Beach is awful with yellow pollen. My prior M/H only had one slide with no cover on that awning and that darn pollen really mucked it up. New M/H don't have the problem.

I have never covered my A/C so I don't know what I'm missing. I know folks who have them and swear by them.

Congrats on your new trailer.

Very Resepectfully,
Jeff

Very Respectfully,
Jeff

I'm just up the road from you, in Bennett, and have never yet covered my awning nor the A/C. We get a lot of wind and driving snow, as you well know, but have never had an issue with damage, discoloration or water entry. If you want to cover, go ahead - personally I don't think it's necesssary.

I would say get an awning cover. I took mine out yesterday due to all of the rain we are having and it was very wet. I did a little search and can't find where you would get an awning cover. Anyone?

They sell covers that you put over the whole MH. That should take care of the AC & Awnings.

But in over 30 years of owning some type of RV. I have never put a cover on any of them. My present MH has the aluminum cover on the awning. I don't see how it helps anything.

Because I full time and the awning is only rolled up probably less then 30 days a year. When it is rolled up and it rains the fabric does get wet anyway. How? The ends are not sealed from the rain.

If you are wanting to protect it from the sun, I would buy a cover for the entire TT. Good luck!
