I have only been camping twice & both times sewer hookup was available. My question(s)are about dumping when no sewer is available. I guess that you just roll your portable container down the road to the dump station. When it fills back up you do the same. Do you hook up the hose and tilt the container so gravity takes over ? Thanks....bob

After you tilt it,release the vent cap slowly. Also when you are filling it,make sure you figure in the contents of the discharge hose itself, ask me how I know this

Thanks for dumping tips. I saw where there are a number of sizes to these containers. I have a 29' TT and just two people. What size would you recommend ? Also, The rv book I have been looking at shows where you can get these with long handles that you connect to your hitch. What do you think about ? I'm not real excited about walking down the path with my sewer stuff in front of everybody. But, I'll do it. Thanks Bob

We bought a 22 gallon blue tote from RVExit which offered free shipping. Replaced the axle and tires as most everyone else has done, see this post.

For me and the wife, three things were important. 1) Don't get one so big that it hard to handle when full, 2) Make sure it can be attached securely to your bumper hitch, and 3) Make sure that you've got the space to easily carry it while on the road.
For us, I got the 22 gal blue tote. I think the make is Barker or maybe Baker.

I use a 25 gallon,I will go bigger when I have to replace. I tow it to dump with my toad.I sometimes have to do 3 trips,but thats okay,once its done I have 4 days or so.If its just the 2 of you you would be fine with something smaller.

Just don't get to talking and forget it's attached to your bumper and not stop at the dump station and drive 8 miles into town along a road at 50 mph! True story! Happened to one of our campers 2 seasons ago.

 Yes, rolling the sewage is not the best way to meet the neighbors, but when camping we all do it. Keep the image of Cousin Eddie dumping the crapper in Christmas Vacation in mind while handling the chore.

When I do it I hitch the trailer to the truck and tow the whole thing to the dump station and about 40 minutes later I'm sitting under the awning again sipping a cool one. Neighbors are spending the day running back and forth with multiple trips and then trying to clean up spillage around their site (or NOT cleaning it up). I'm not particularly fond of handling sewage ONCE let along a half dozen times
