I've yet to consider a used camper nor will i but certainly would'nt condem those that don't mind used.
Then I guess you have never spent a night at a Holiday Inn?

As seen in the posts above - it's a personal thing. If I could find the right layout in good condition I wouldn't hesitate to buy a second hand TT. We couldn't, so be bought new.
For cash transactions, a used purchase is simple. If financing is involved, there are benefits to having a dealer to run interference with the hassles of getting the deal put together.

We bought used both times, with our pop up and our travel trailer. We did good with the pop up but we did EXCELLENT with the travel trailer. A gently used rig can be as good as new and someone else takes the depreciation hit. The nice gentleman that sold us our well kept & very clean less than a year old Sunline included so much great stuff we saved major $$$ on outfitting it as well. It was a sweet (cash) deal so we were all happy!
Shop wisely and you will do just fine no matter which way you choose.

i would not waste my money on a new one,if your a handy do it yourself kind of person go used if your not and need the warrenty to get things fixed go new.finding the right top end older model will save you plenty and most are better made then the newer ones.buying used i would look for there top end model of that year with all the options included.

I bought new and I bought used. Used has been good for us. Obviously you lose a lot of money with a new RV like a new auto when you drive it off the lot. Of course you lose money on a used one also, but never as much. And you let someone else work out the new RV bugs for you.
But if you can afford a new RV there are some very good deals to be made out there right now.

I bought my current TT (see sig) used. It was used one summer by a couple while they built a new house. Mattress still had the plastic wrapping on it and everthing looked like new. It was a consignment unit (as is because it was consignment) on a dealers lot since the owners didn't trade it for another unit. I got it for a great price. .... BUT ... when I picked it up out of state and towed it 5 miles to my favorite campground in New Hampshire the "fun" started. I had given it a good inspection the previous weekend and knew the few little things that needed work (dead battry, dirty outside, missing awning pull bar, etc..). I connected the water and shortly afterward found a leak under the sink ... aggggg .... ok, go to shut off the water outside .... and discover water gushing out of the open compartment door where the water heater was. Found out INSIDE that nice styrofoam cover, the tank it was split. Looked like neither the previous owner or the dealer ever winterized it. If I had paid the dealer the small "prep" fee it would have been discovered .... agggggg.... Even after I installed a new tank and repaired a few water fittings it was still a good buy, BUT beware of what you get when used.

Used for us. We got an "older" 1984 HR Alumi-lite TT in very good condition. We are the forth owner. Yes, there have been some problems, nothing major because all the previous owners had taken very good care of it. We got such a good deal on it I can afford to add all the goodies I want, and have a good start! No slide but perfect for just the two of us and our furkids.
One other bonus is that it's paid for so we can afford to go camping!

Ok now that I have all opinions...here is one more question. If you bought used..how old would you go? I just cant see purchasing something 8-10 yrs old. Im kind of leery of that.
