welcome to the forum.
The Dodge has a 9350 RAWR vs GM's 8250 RAWR if your intersted in the biggest load capacity on the rear axles. Otherwise its your choice.

I've got the Silverado 3500 Dually C.C. with Duramax and Allison and love it, however the Dodge is also a great truck.........you're gonna have to test drive em both and make up your own mind.

Why are you buying a dually which will increase operating cost and cut non-tow driving ease? You did not state a size of trailer. If you are only debating the brand any of the three will be ok but there are some differences. If fit and finish, noise and fuel economy count I found that the GM Diesel with Allison trans is tops. The real difference is the Allison which no one else can touch. It has superior engine braking and gear splitting which will extend the life of both engine and trans. And if you plan to keep the TV for a long time the Allison will be working well long after the others have to be rebuilt.

I bought the dodge for the Cummins diesel engine.
2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. Have to agree with the circus -
Decide on how big, heavy, long a 5th you plan on buying.
No need to buy a dually - unless you REALLY need one!
Do you need/want a long bed or short bed?
Consider any of the "big three" before the changeover in Jan. '07
ALL of 'em get better mileage prior to that.
Of course - lots of REALLY good deals on all new trucks.
BTW -
A poster mentioned G/M "employee pricing" available to the public.
It could be easily matched (and beat) long before the current fuel crisis & bottom dropping out of truck market. (I had it avail).
Even then you could buy below dealer invoice (G/M employee pricing) if you put out a bit of effort.
"Dealer Invoice" is *NOT* the dealer "cost"!!
(That applies to all of the big three.)

Also keep in mind GM starts the employee pricing thing Wed 8-20-2008. Plus some vehicles will receive up to $6K Cash back on top of the employee pricing structure. (See Tow Vehicle section here- GM Pricing thread that I posted on Monday. It was in Automotive News.com Monday 8-18-2008. Something to think about anyway.

The new Dodge 68rfe transmission is EASILY as good as or better than the Allison. FWIW, most RV haulers tow with Dodges.
