Is the ticket too high or is my cab too short? I've been traveling along NJ and PA turnpikes in my new C.

Every time I go through the booth and get the ticket to get on the tpk, the machine must think I'm in a class A and spits the ticket out almost at cab-over height. The first time I couldn't find it for several minutes and the guy behind me started honking because it took so long.

I think I've got it figured out now. As I enter the booth area I unlatch my seat belt, stop, put it in park, open my door, step out onto the "running board", grab the ticket, step back in, close the door, buckle my seatbelt, put it in drive and I'm on my way! as EZ as 1,2,3,...,10.

Or should I invest in EZpass?

EZPass will eliminate this and speed you on your way. I've used them for years up and down the east coast.

safe travels,

If you use an ez pass doesn't it have to be set for truck and trailer or JUST truck and can not be used interchangably??

I called EZpass and was given the following information regarding MHs:

In order to get an EZpass transponder for a MH you have to set up a commercial account. Unlike a private account for which there is no charge for the transponder, with the commercial account you have to purchase the transponder for $35 (with the cabover on my C I'd have to get the license plate mounted unit). There is a monthly maintenance fee of $1 charged to private accounts, but I didn't ask what that fee is for the commercial accounts.

I really don't know how they handle TTs.

Since I will be very limited in my trip-taking between now and next summer, I figured I'd just wait until late spring to get the tag.

I got the one for the tag because the windshield tag didn't work all the time with the cabover. I live in MD and all I did was pay the deposit for it and I don't have any commercial account or a monthly fee I guess every state works it their own way, and yes we all have had the same problem with reaching for the ticket that's why I use E-Z-PASS. I believe you were given incorrect information. I'm not familiar with NJ, but the RV should NOT require a commercial account. However, I have read several reports on here of RV'ers being told exactly that. I think when folks were persistent, they were able to find someone knowledgeable enough to get them the right transponder class.

If you really want the EZ-Pass, I think you should try calling a couple of more times or better yet, visit an EZ-Pass facility. Bring in your vehicle registration and show them that you are NOT a commercial vehicle.

Good Luck,

~Rick

Toll roads? Never heard of such a thing in the West coast. Oh, now I remember...I thought they were going to do away with those as soon as the roads were paid for when they built them?

My dad takes the EZ-Pass out of his tahoe and puts it in his class a. I will be taking mine out of the jeep and using it my class c this oct when I go to Disney. I will mount mine as low on the windshield as I can.
