It looks like(from the brochure) that the Dutchman has the Chevy engine. How does this compare to the V-10 Ford? Will it tow as well? I tow a Buick Rendevous that is somewhat heavy and need the power.

Would also value opinions on the Dutchman itself. Thanks

Check, but

Chevy is generally Only Rated to Tow 3,500 pounds

Ford is generally Rated to Tow 5,000 pounds

How much does Your Buick weight?

Also,

The least expensive Class C on the market is the Forest River Sunseeker

My Buick weighs 5100 pounds I don't understand the reference to the Forest River Sunseeker. Is this a Dutchman product?

If your Buick is 5,100 pounds, you will still be okay on the Ford if you upgrade the receiver. There's still another 500 pounds of towing capcity built into the chassis, but the stock receivers are usually only 5k receiver. Although, if you don't load up the car, I persoannly woudn't sweat 100 pounds too much.

As stated, the GM cannot tow that much. Not enough motor, and the transmission is also a limiting factor (GM 4-speed... Allison is not availble in the GM van/cutaway)

I'll chime in on the Dutchman issue. As you can see, we have a 29R. All-in-all we really like the unit but it is not without some issues. That being said, most of the problems we've had were from components not made by Four Winds and wasn't their fault.

The only problem we've seen is a couple of leaks that were re-sealed by the dealer. Dutchman is not considered a top of the line coach, but it is a great value for the money.

I will add that their customer serive has been great. We had a problem with the microwave while on a cross country trip and the customer service guy kept in contact with us to determine where we would be next and was able to ship a new one to us to swap out.
