It is unfortunate that due to a series of events you are now in this situation.

However I think it is very wrong of you to make your original post naming the particular campground before you have given the management opportunity to correct the situation. I would find it acceptable if you simply stated that "I am staying at a campground and...". Instead you chose to name this campground and give it a black eye on a forum that is read by thousands of people.

I am in no way associated with this or any other campground. I generally make a habit of avoiding KOAs myself. I do however believe in fairplay.

I was merely stating facts. Not disgracing the reputation of the CG. Moving to another site would not have helped. I don't want to be sarcastic... But I wouldn't be the first to name a campground and discuss my dissatisfaction. If you read my first post and even the title...I said great campground but...This CG is rated very well by Woodalls.

As for what the management did...Nothing. They said the Pi was pretty much everywhere in the shaded sites. I also told him that it should be stated on the website that the site was right next to the bathhouse and PI is very prevalent.

Where I am employed ...we do service recovery. I did not want a refund but some sort of service recovery would have been good customer service. I stated the facts to the Manager and he said he was very sorry then changed the subject to what brought me up to this area. He also stated that NY law was they could not use herbicides to rid the PI.
Maybe some one can validate that.

If my post was inappropriate I believe the moderator would have removed it, as he did with several posts on this thread. At this point he may even do so. I really regret ever even posting, it seems that I was wrong for asking advice. If you notice I posted very late at night and I extremely frustrated after all the events. Put it this way. I am not that picky, but at some point I do break. So I posted on the forum and proposed should I...and I did correct my self later and say “what would you do”

Bee,
If you really feel my thread unjust please report to the moderator.

The trip was still enjoyable, we survived the PI. Nobody has signs of it (yet). We saw a great concert and most of all I spent quality time with my kids and husband.

Since you are having such a miserable time how can it be such a great campground?

I usually judge how good a campground is by how enjoyable our stay was. Or is that just me?

If I was as miserable as you seem to be I would have left last week....

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

This topic has gotten way too much attention for the nature/scope of the OP's problem. IMHO, it's probably best that she is not a fullltimer if she allows these little 'bumps in the road' to irritate her. It's all part of the RV'ing experience and that's what makes RV'ing such a popular lifestyle -- if you don't like where you are, or your neighbors, take your home (on wheels) somewhere else.

I have no issue with the thread, but when you dismiss the most obvious and reasonable response (moving) as unacceptable and immediately look at forms of compensation, you lose my sympathy. PI happens. Camping happens in nature and so don't things like PI and bugs and rain and mud. Where does one draw the line?

FWIW, to the poster who mentioned it is perfectly possible to be at a good well run campground and get a bad site. It is rare all sites a 100% perfect for everyone unless it is a paved pad field. I recently read a review of a place we stayed for a week. Reviewer complained about pot holes and the sites being rough. He apparently missed the weather forecasts that had that area get flooding rains the week before his stay. The potholes were filled upon our arrival and after the heavy rains.

WHAT ??? FAIR PLAY??? Do you know how many very hard working families there are out there that own KOA campgrounds and are doing there very best in this harsh economy to keep there heads above water?

HOW VERY UNFAIR OF YOU!!!

You're back are you? I haven't seen your enlightened posts for a while.

I see nothing wrong with making the personal statement that I generally avoid KOAs. I didn't bash them at all. Due to my personal experiences regarding the general type of campgrounds that KOA has, I don't like most of them. KOA as a corporation makes a practice of maximizing the dollar return for the space available. Consequently, many of them are nothing more than a cramped parking lot. I can stay at Walmart for free if I want to sit in a parking lot. If this offends you, oh well!

Of course we all know how you feel about staying at Walmarts, don't we Ginabas?

Thanks for the heads up Bonnie. I don't understand the mean remarks either. If we knew all the answers or didn't want to help each other out there would be no point in this forum in the first place, right ??

I, too, thank you for the heads up...and BTW, don't let the sarcastic ones bother you. They get very brave behind the computer. They have no other life, I guess. JMHO

Wow, after reading this I think the first mistake was posting here and thinking that a rational discussion would follow. Seem to see more and more of these threads where somebody just needs a place to vent and perhaps desires a friendly suggestion or two and you would think they just took a child hostage for the treatment they receive.

Bonnie, I'll probably never be that far north but thank you for the heads up on the KOA. best to you in your next outing.
