Hello everyone,
We have an 05 Gulfstream 32ft Class C and we are planning to buy a couple of ATVs to keep the kids out of trouble. We are debating whether an enclosed trailer is a better choice than a regular trailer. We are leaning towards the regular non-enclosed trailer for a few reasons:
1. Can park in garage
2. Less maintenance
3. Cheaper
4. Lighter
The disadvantage is that it is not enclosed (rain, theft)
Any thoughts ?

I needed an ATV trailer. I got non enclosed because I store it in my side yard and I did not want it visible over the top of the fence.

We have an open trailer that we keep in the garage with the ATVs on it. When were out we've never had a problem with rain because we're going to wash them when we get home anyway and we park them up against the motorhome with the trailer moved by hand in back of them.In order to steal them you would have to pick them up and move them sideways or move the trailer. It would make a ton of noise and time to move it all and then the thief would have to hot wire them or push them. Again not an easy task.

My only concern for securing the ATVs and motorcycles is if we go out to dinner in town. Otherwise they are with us.
This is one situation where a toyhauler or an enclosed trailer has an advantage.

I have a Carson Trailer ATV 2, it is a over the wheel trailer at 8x12.
On this trailer is would take at lest 4 to 6 guys to get an ATV off the deck of that trailer, because it sit high. Now its just like anything else, if some one wants it they will get it.
I tow it with my 22ft 1985 Lazy Dazy. It tracks like its part of the RV.
To me it is the best trailer I've ever tow, and I towed a lot of u-haul 6x12 open trailer with this RV. The only option I got was the 2nd axle had brakes on it. It was around $2200ish out the door, and weights 1560lbs.
Hope this helps

The open trailer that I have has metal rails on three sides about 8" above the deck of the trailer and a back gate that lowers as a ramp. I bought a lock for the hitch ball cover to keep someone from taking the whole trailer and a lock to replace one of the clovis pins that hold the ramp up. The thief would have to lift the ATV over the rail to get it off of the trailer. Makes it a lot harder to steal than somebody else's.

I tow a 16' enclosed trailer behind by 30' Bigfoot. I like the security that the enclosed trailer provides, plus storage for helmets, gloves, fuel, etc. The MH pulls the trailer great, do not even know it is there, except when looking in the rear camera!
