Anyone know when or if the styling will trickle over to the HD trucks? The 2009 1500 looks sharp. I might consider an HD model for my next truck if they carry the improvements across the lineup.

Good question!
Just a "gut" feeling, but I think that the new styling would be shared throughout the Dodge P.U. line.......from 1/2 through through 1 ton; maybe even the 4500-5500 line too.
It is strange that there's been nothing out of Chrysler about the heavier P.U.'s getting the restyle along with the 1/2 ton 1500.
I'm also curious about the upcoming 4.x liter Cummins V8 planned for the Dodge 1500 line. Would be a great engine, even in the 2500-3500 line too. Many folks might opt for that engine over the Hemi in lieu of the larger 6.7 Cummins.
This smaller diesel should get pretty good mileage too.

Supposedly the 4.4PSD for the upcomming F-150 will be available in the 250/350 series trucks so maybe Dodge may do the same. I have "heard" the new body style will be in the heavy duty trucks for the 2010 model year. Maybe a true crewcab Dodge with a 8 foot bed. Wow, imagine that.

I have been disappointed that Dodge has not offered a 1/2 ton with tow ratings comparable with Chevrolet/Ford/GMC/Toyota. The 9,100 maximum towing limit, no brake controller option and no trailer mirrors means that the Ram 1500 is now the least capable full-size pickup. The nicer interior and built-in coolers are fine, but they are not the reasons I buy a truck. The never/never/never crowd (never go off-road, never tow, never haul)have abandoned the full-size pickup market in droves. I have a 2006 Dodge QC 1500 with the Hemi, and see no reason to trade for the 2009. Maybe the 2010 with the small diesel will be worth a look.
If Chrysler is betting the farm on the 2009 Ram 1500 sales, they are in trouble, since Ford will also have a re-designed 1/2 ton, and Chevrolet/GMC will have a six-speeed automatic in their 1/2 ton pickups.
My $.02 worth.

Towing 9100 lbs with any normal 1/2 ton is crazy in my opinion (heavy 1/2s that are basically 3/4 ton exempted). Maybe Dodge is just being more realistic with their tow ratings? If you plan to tow 9k lbs you are well into 3/4 ton territory.
The Grand Cherokee has always had rear coil springs. How do they tow for their size range?
I think the last time Dodge released a new 1500 body it followed on the 2500+ the following model year.

Totally agree!
I tow a 10,000 lb. TT, with my 2500 Ram/Cummins, Quadcab, 4x2, long bed, 3:73 rear end, 48re Automatic.
I can feel that trailer back there, but also feel pretty safe with that size P.U..
If I were to tow my TT with a late model 1/2 ton, I'd be very marginal in the safety area IMO. The 3/4 tons and above tend to have larger brakes......I know a few Tundra fans will counter that statement as the latest Tundra does boast big brakes. Never the less, I think frame-wise, and weight wise, 3/4 ton and up makes a fairly big difference in towing safety when the weight of the TT gets up in the 9,000 + lb. area.
Dodge's 9,100 lb. rating makes sense. This big 1/2 ton war of raising the stakes on who can tow the heaviest is getting pretty crazy. Glad Dodge is not going to join in and keep this frenzy going.
As for the missing trailering mirrors. I have a gut feeling that those mirrors will be available by the time these trucks go on sale. Most of these magazines are testing or getting glimpses of pre-production vehicles.....
Dodge's 1500 is their "bread and butter" P.U., just like Ford and GM. No trailer mirrors would be like, no tailgate.

The dealer can install the larger trailer mirrors on any 1/2 ton. I had them change out the tiny mirrors on my 1500.

True about the mirrors. Same doors on 1500 and 2500 vehicles for Dodge.
