Hello All
My rig has 2 flat screen TVs made by Westing House. Unless you are standing at eye level to the tv all you see is like a negetive type picture. So if you are sitting on the couch or laying in bed the TVs are usless. Does anybody else have this problem. Anybody have any ideas or solutions. Thanks Jack

The Thermos keeps hot things hot and cold things cold. How does it know?

Some LCD's have a definite maximum viewing angle, when firt introduces, the sets had to be viewed from directly in front. Some brands have wider views than others. The Westinghouse must be a lower end model! Jayco was using Sharp, and have a 70 degree viewing angle. Call Jayco's customer service and find out if they have a fix for this issue, possibly a Sharp LCD free replacement. They'll ask you if you contacted your dealer first, so do that now!

From LCDTV Buying guide...

"Misconception #4: You can't watch an LCD TV from the side.
This is a source of constant carping for LCD aficionados—limited viewing angles. It is sometimes the case that LCD displays have impaired side-viewing angles. Of course, most manufacturers will tell you just the opposite, that LCD TVs have viewing angles to rival comparably-sized plasma displays (i.e., 160° or more). But this is simply not the case. While it is sometimes possible to view LCD televisions 80° off axis, the picture you'll see will be degraded. In other words, there will be a noticeable decrease in color saturation, contrast, and brightness in the picture.

Quality really makes a difference in terms of viewing angle: If you buy an LCD display from one of the better manufacturers (e.g., Sharp or Sony), you should be able to sit about 70° off axis and still see a perfectly displayed imaged. Dot pitch is an important factor here. Higher dot pitches increase the viewing angles of LCD panels. Since dot pitch is measure in millimeters (mm), a good rule of thumb is this: Smaller dot pitches make for sharper images. You generally want a dot pitch of .28mm ("10,000 pixels/in2 of your display) or finer.

To get an idea of how various models stack up in terms of actual viewing angles (rather than stated viewing angles), see Robert Wiley's "5 LCD TV Shootout" article."

try increasing your contrast setting. I have lcd's as well (but not westinghouse) and have a similar problem. Maxing out the contrast setting helped alot.

Did the same as above, adjusted the contrast and/or the brightness. Fixed the problem. But mine is a Sharp.

I also have a Westinghouse flat screen which works just fine. So it must be a setting or a defect.

No problem with the picture on my Westinghouse, but it has the worst sound of any TV I've owned. It sounds muffled.

Thank you all for the replies. I will try to adjust the contrast and brightness and see if that helps. Jack

He there, I have the Jayco 31SS and experienced the same problem. I simply built a wedge for both TVs and added an extra square piece of plywood up underneath the cabinet for reinforcement. After 3,000 miles this summer they are still as solid as when installed. Cheap and effective! Hope this helps, cheers.

O have a 30 and 37 westinghouse which are three years old. They work as well as my Vizio and Toshiba and Samsung. I Agree that it is in your settings or a defective set. Even a cheap Polaroid is visible at angles but does require some adjustmet up and down which is easy for me as I have it on a swing arm. Good luck.
