Wow! we were there, camping at Mission Bay at De Anza cove but of course we missed it. We launch our boat (21' IO) with our MH and have no problem. We have been doing this for 15 years and have never had a problem (OK now I have just jinxed us)it is the same as backing the boat in with anything else, if you can do it with a truck you can do it with your MH.

I have a 27 foot Jayco c-class I purchased recently. I have launched my boat several times on different ramps and have not had a problem. The back end of the rv has never had to go into the water to launch the boat, as another poster commented. Backing the boat is fairly easy and the trailer is visible enough with the standard mirrors. I bought the RV with the ideal I would be launching a boat with it quite often and its actually easier than I thought it would be.
Good Luck.

As much as some posters have used thier class C's to launch, I WOULDN'T recommened it. Is it worth taking a chance with a 80- 120K motorhome to get your boat to the water? NOT.
Now what I would do, is ask someone at the ramp to hook it up to thier truck and drop it in for you. Most people will do this for a 6 pack or a Jackson.
There are a lot of friendly boaters out there that would be glad to help.
And for question, "I'll be out where there are no other boaters launching thier boats"... Then you should definetely NOT be launching it there with a C!!
Boat ramps get slick. You lose traction, then wave as she sets sail.

I have been launching my boat for many years from my motorhome. The single most important factor is to know what your limitations are. Tight, Steep, Slick ramps are a no no. If there is sufficient space and the ramp is not too steep or slick I have found that is is easier to back my boat trailer with the motorhome than with my Ford Explorer.

The articles says that the brakes failed when the boat came loose. This could happen to anyone....Mike I caught that comment also, but there could be more to the story. For example, if you shut off your engine or it dies, you only have about one or two pushes on the brake pedal before you lose power assist. It feels like your brakes failed. I know those new pickups are expensive, but dunking the rear axle and box into the lake is not as much of a problem as dunking your bedroom into the lake.

Put a hitch on the front of the MH. Visibility far better and drivers not in the pond.

How's this for an idea? some time ago I watched some guys pull up to launch a boat on Galveston Island from the beach!! Some how or the other they had a tongue extension that they attached to the trailer with some sort of pins and never got the truck tires wet...

I had my trailer custom made for our boat made with an extra 3' tongue extention giving it an overall 5' tongue length due to our previous Truck Camper overhang of 2.5 feet off the back of the bed. My tests so far show that it was a good extra $100 spent, even with the MH.

We have a 26 ft Class C Winnebago Aspect and launch our 17 ft bass boat for over 4 years not. There has only been one location that we even got close to having the back of the MH from touching the water. Launching the bass boat with the MH is a piece of cake just make sure that you are careful to set the parking brake and trans in park then you are good to go. It is great to take the boat fishing and have the home right there.

I've seen this happen at Lake Elsinore where our launch ramps are very slick... I would invite your buddies with a truck to help launch you. Not all lakes have the same angle of entry.
