Last Sat, afternoon I fed her. Almost as soon as she ate she threw it up, and up and up and up. She didn't stop til it was all out I'm sure. Later I put her outside in her pen. When I brought her inside, she threw up again, she had eaten grass. On Sunday, she drank water but wouldn't eat but didn't throw up anymore. I took her to the vet Monday. She examined her and did blood work. She said her temp was normal. The blood work came back normal. But her eyes were sunk back in her head which normally they were a little popeyed. They were also bloodshot. The vet gave her fluids under the skin with penicillin in it. Also gave me Cerenia tabs and told me to give her Pepcid, Pedialite and a script for Sucralfate. The vet didn't know what was wrong unless it was gastrointestinal. She moved around and drank water Tuesday but she had no interest in food. I took her to a veterinary hospital this morning (Wed.) They took x-rays and said she was constipated and had lots of gas. Her temp was 95deg so they put her in incubator and gave her fluids and took care of the blockage and got her temp up. She had whipworms. Vet wants me to bring her back tomorrow for more fluids. They don't know what's wrong just gave me med for the worms. I'm holding her now with blankets wrapped around her. She's not going to make it through the night. If anyone has any ideas as to what might be wrong, please tell me. The vet just said they know what's NOT wrong!!

Reminds me a bit of what Sugar the GSD just went through, and came through, on a thread from several days ago. I can't tell you more than the vet can, but will be sending prayers and all the good energy I can. Hang in there...

Try some boiled chicken and pasta. This works for our pooch. Her stomach is probably pretty acidy by now and doesn't want to eat her reg. food.Could have been something in the food she had on Sat.for her to get that sick so quick. Call another emergency vet even if its out of town they might have a different idea.Good Luck

My thoughts are prayers go out to you. I hope that your little baby pulls thru
You can try some chicken broth and rice, just a little at a time, several times a day

Praying that your little baby pull through. When our show dogs are ill we boil good hamburger meat and rice and feed with a topping of plain yogurt. Makes their tummy feel better and adds back the digestive enzymes that were destroyed by the antibiotics.

Have you recently changed brand of dog food? Also, check and see if the manufacturer of your brand of dog food has changed or the ingredients have changed.

When my Neal exhibited similar symptoms, he had swallowed 2 rocks when he was eating grass. They showed clearly on the xray. You said your little one had a blockage. Surely they could have seen it, but it might be something to ask the vet. If she had a blockage, perhaps she could still have something in there too big to pass. Might be worth another xray.

Neal had two rocks, one in the stomach and one which had already passed into the intestine. If there is still a blockage, it needs to be removed asap. No food will entice her if she has a blockage. Neal wouldn't eat or drink.

Prayers for you and your little one.

Our two dogs had a similar experience last spring, we did the boil hamburger with boiled rice and they ate that and it stayed down and it took care of their problem, of course they had medications from the vet but it did work out and yes, it was a little scary for a couple of days.

I am so sorry and I pray your baby gets better. Last year my 12 yr old cat started vomiting more than usual(she goes through an every 3 week cycle due to damage caused by cruelty when she was a kitten). The first day I figured it was normal but when she vomited all weekend and would not eat I took her to the vet and she had an inflammed bowel, no blockage. She stayed at the vets for 3 days and came home with prednisone which helped her. No relapse thank GOD. I dont know if this helps or not. I would definetely get a second opinion. Hugs to you both. Keep us posted

I am so sorry you are going through this with your little one. Hannah dog used to get gastritis with no warning and would do some of what you talk about. Medication and the sucrafate would help her. I hope this resolves soon.

Has anyone recently treated their lawn with fertilizer/weed killer??? Exposure to these is guaranteed to have my Aussie turn into the vomit machine....and maybe your little dog took it a step further to dehydration/constipation, etc??
