I guess I needed to write about Toy Haulers and the bad reputation that some get.I just need to say "Gearbox" and everyone seems to chime in on quality issues.I happen to have a Gearbox 335FS 2004 and really have no problems beside little minor annoyances at times. But everything works fine the sides are not delaminating and the pin-box is holding quite firmly lol.
Searched around and found some of the issues on these TH's.I am very happy with mine.I am curious as to how many of these brand of TH were made as I see them everywhere!Have had friends with them and they never complained?
So any gearbox owners here that have no problems/or do have, and are happy with their TH? And I would rather not hear about a friend of a friend story as I want personal experinces if posible.Sorry to kind of rant but I didnt want to thread jack in another subject.

All toy haulers have problems. Some of us get lucky and get good trailers others with the same make and model get stuck with junk.

It's kind of funny to here people say how great Keystone trailers are. At one time all you could read about was how poor Keystone's products were.

Like you, I'm happy with my trailer and that is all that matters.

Gearbox had a problem with delaminating at one time. Once a brand gets a stigma attached it takes a long time for people to forget and recognize a good product. I wouldn't let it bother me if I were you. Heck, if my Powerstroke had broke down as many times as I was lead to believe I would never have made it out of the driveway.

Ditto and a big Amen. I have been driving my 6.0 PSD for over two years since new. Never had a warranty issue arise and now after 37,000 plus miles of mostly towing miles, not a hiccup. It runs like a top and all the power and torque I could ever need.

I want to leave this earth quietly in my sleep like my grandfather and not like the hysterical, screaming passengers riding in granddad's RV just before the big crash.

I think Fleetwood addresses the delamination issues they had in the 2004 model year, other then that I can't say I've read about any major problems. The problem was the solved the issue, but didn't necessarily take care of their customers. Sadly that to often seems to be the case with most RV manufacturers.

We have been very happy with ours also. Only minor issues that were taken care of by the dealer. And like you when i read that post its like here we go again, another post bashing gearbox, when actually every brand of toyhauler or rv has their lemons. And if I were to trade my 5er in, it would be for a bigger gearbox.

How could Fleetwood have a delamination problem to begin with? I believe they are the largest manufacture in the business, and they have been building RV’s and trailers for years. These trailers are not overly complex guys. While it is great to hear that they fixed the problem, the problem never should have happened in the first place. While the GearBox may have an undeserved bad rap, I think it is suffering for the reputation that Fleetwood has earned from past performance.

BTW, I am the proud past owner of a Fleetwood travel trailer where the roof started to sag at the AC unit. Of the 5 trailers that I have owned the Fleetwood was the only one that gave me grief. I ended up trading it in on a Sunnybrook Lite that was entry level trailer too and was far superior in quality.

No big trouble with our Thor of Calif Wanderer toyhauler, but it only has a bit over 50,000 miles on it. We did junk Carlisle tires upon purchase (I don't run Chinese tires.), so they caused no trouble. Time will tell, guess I'll wait another 50,000 and then have a better idea of overall problems. I did have to replace stove vent flap. I also had to get a tire leak from a nail in a tire patched once. Wife killed the microwave, but it was her fault, ran it with nothing inside by mistake. Can't blame that on Thor.

I'm happy with my Gearbox now. It took a full year of persistence and frustration but everything got fixed. I would enjoy it a lot more if I didn't have to go though that experience though and I will think twice about purchasing another Fleetwood.

Thanks for the input all its nice just to hear the good and bad.I mean every vehicle that I have bought in the last 15 yrs has had some recall so mistakes do happen.I guess its upsetting when they dont address obvius problems that get me.
These things are trully tested though as we throw a few toys into the back and travel to remote areas.Wish I would of thought of it,when and who was the first Toy hauler anyone know?
