It is still way too early to predict whre he will make landfall, but I do see a trend in the computer models shifting to the west since this morning and I am hoping and praying we get out from under the gun. Rita was bad enought here just 3 years ago, we need a break. So does everyone else I guess. Until he gets in the Gulf I don't see how they can make any accurate predictions. I honestly believe they are so happy to happy to have something to talk about.

Looks like Gustav is going to pass way to the West of me, (Naples Fl.), We were in the "cone" for the last week. My best advise is to be alert and don't panic yet. The Gulf of Mexico is a big body of water that is exceptionaly warm. Shoot, it might run up the Gulf then turn around and get me. That'll sure screw up the spaghetti forecasts.

Round two is now entering the ring. After the fiasco with Gustav, it may be hard to get people to evacuate. Good luck to those that are in IKEs path.
Way, way too early to predict where landfall may be. The where damage isn't know until after it hits anyway. We always need more rain, so I'm looking forward to it from that standpoint......if it travels here.

Anything over a cat2 going over my head I'm getting out. Hurricane Jeanne's eye went over my house , and it vibrated the concrete slab, bent my garage door, sucked up 10' of aluminum under hang in to my attic ,side garage door wouldn't open anymore(bent frame),took off 30 or more shingles, and scared the sh@*t out of me with vibration, talk about duck and cover, and that was just a cat2, but it went over head. It only sucked the roof vent off my 5er, and flooded the bedroom.Jeanne
Then Charley
Then Frances
All in one year, but not in this order, but the cat 2 was the worst going overhead, if you can just stay 25miles or so from the eye, you fare pretty good.

I don't see how it's possible for IKE to hit Texas as New Orleans is still a part of Louisiana. ON SECOND THOUGHT, there are a lot of former New Orleans' that were left there after Katrina. Perhaps that's what's confusing Ike. I wonder if the national media will still cover the landfall of Ike from the New Orleans levies if it hits Houston?
Yea I have a bone to pic...
In all seriousness start packing now and stay alert if this thing sneezes it could change course at the last minute. Been there...
Papa-B, Momma Dee, and 2 Pup-E's along for the ride.

Al Roker on the Today show this morning had highest probabilities for southern texas, northern NEW Mexico. I wasn't aware that New Mexico had a coastline? Think Al needs another vacation? LOL, he corrected it later in the same broadcast to Northern Mexico.
