I am looking for a 25-35 gal gas tank that would fit in the bed of my truck. trick is it needs to sit below the rails and can't the entire width of the truck bed.

I saw this from Northern Tool

http://www2.northerntool.com/product/200306747.htm

and this

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200326411_200326411

but i don't know if the second one can lay on it's side.

Any ideas? It will be to hold fuel for my snowmobiles. I'd like it to sit at far forward as possible to help with COG.

Then you have to buy a pump and hose to go with it. Then you'll have to run an electrical circuit for it. You'll have over $500 in it then. 5 gallon gas cans are cheap and very portable. jmho

I made your links clickable.

I found some tanks at this place, it is only 6 gallons but they might have a larger model.

Tank-Depot.com

You should also check out this website, they sell larger frame mounted tanks for trucks as well as some in the bed tanks, and if you have a special request, they might be able to accomidate you with a one off tank that includes a pump. They also supply tanks for toy hauler companies.

TransferFlow.com

There are many ways to carry fuel. It looks like you want the safest way - a larger tank that is bolted to the body of your truck, where in a collission it will not fly someplace and then leak fuel.

If you have a gas powered truck, there might be another way - install a really large fuel tank on the truck along with a way to pump out the fuel.

My thought for a retirement tow vehicle would bea F-450 towing a large fifth wheel, with a standard 40 gallon behind the axle tank and a 60 gallon transferflow tank mid-frame, so I could carry 900 miles worth of fuel, not so I could drive non-stop for 2 days, but so I would not need to tow the fifth wheel into a gas station, and refill while the RV was in a RV park.

The top link says not to use gasoline in it - it probably does not have the proper venting required for gasoline tanks. The bottom link, I think they are supposed to be transported laying on it's back, with the wheels and handle down, and stood upright to drain the fuel. You can both drain or pump the fuel - depending on how you want to get it out.

Fred.
