If you want a great crunchy snack to take camping try this recipe.
My niece Missy from Texas sent this to me and people go bonkers for it. It only takes 3 min to make and you will be praised for your hard work.
Missy's Texas Fire Crackers
1 cup of vegetable oil.
1 package dry ranch dressing mix.
Mix these two ingredients together and then
"sprinkle for taste" into the oil and dressing mix
garlic powder
crushed red peppers
cayenne pepper
Keep these well mixed together
Take a 1 gallon zip lock baggy and pour all 4 packages of saltine crackers into the bag.
Drizzle the mix over the crackers into the baggy.
I like to keep as much air in the bag as possible when I close it.
Turn the bag over several time to coat the crackers.
Turn the bag over about every 15 min for an hour.
Enjoy
You can use oyster crackers also.

It sure is easy and seems like it would work on chips, pretzels, maybe popcorn, etc.
Could you give us some starting amounts with the "sprinkle to taste" ingredients?
Thanks a bunch.

I asked my niece about that also and she said just sprinkle it on.
So I started with the garlic and shook it over the oil like 3 times. The red peppers and cayenne the same thing. I usually make the first batch like that then make a second bach with just a little more. Most people like it a little hotter than the first batch but I figure there are those of us that can't take the heat. I never measured it out. I will next time to try and quantify the ingrediants for you. K?

These are great as we have been doing them for a long time. We like to use the wheat saltines. Good munchy treats.

Do the crackers get soggy in the bag with the oil mixture? Do you dry them out? These sound really good, I don't want to miss a step and not get it right.
Thanks for sharing.

This is a great recipe, it has been posted before with a different name. These crackers are addictive, so I don't make them too often.

I made some on a Friday and they were still crunchy the following Tuesday. Don't know how they lasted that long tho.
