Hello all,First post.Long time reader.
I was reading about selling your home and going fulltime. We've discussed this and thought it would nice to always have a Homebase to come home to.Even you bought a condo or something.
Anybody regret selling.
Thanks,Mike

No, since we don't miss the payments. And because we don't spend much time where we'd probably have a Home Base. We have our bedroom suite in one of our sons, but actually prefer our own bedroom in the 5er.

We been full timing since 1996 and don't miss and would not want a homebase because it would always be in the back of our minds ,wondering if everything was okay , if there was work that needed to be done ,etc. plus the added expense.
In a short period of time your RV becomes your home so you don't need a homebase to come home to.

We did not sell at first... But after the first year did, we were on a tour of the country, CA across southern states, up the east coast to ME, and back across the North. Well when we reached IL Visiting our daughter, she was in the county, next to a farm. My SIL ran a 50amp line to the RV, hooked us to the water, and we stayed six weeks. Wanted to stay longer, but had to leave to get back home before November to take care of things in the house. It really bugged us that we had not just sold it, if we had could have stayed there until Thanksgiving then headed to TX. We decided we would rather be in TX for the winter, instead of S.CA. It is further south, and it was quite cold in CA that winter. We sold it, and have never regretted it.

My only regret, is that we left the freedom of full-timing and bought another house...
Two long years later, I still long for the full-time lifestyle... Wife liked the full-time lifestyle too, but decided she wanted a house...
I missed my chance of taking her to a headshrink when that idea popped up in that head of hers...

Dont be scared of not having a home base. We decided last year to go full timing, thats my wife and I, so we sold the house, large furniture and other "Stuff". We maintain a 10ft X 10ft air conditioned storage unit in Nashville with articles my wife wanted to keep. That will be re-appraised next year.
We now Workamp and have been in Utah for the last 4 months. Going wherever this winter, and if diesel prices come down, well its up to Alaska next summer. Dont regret, enjoy what you can, when you can. Believe me, like the others, bricks, sticks and mortar will allways be available. Enjoy.

We full time with no stix & brix. However, I've always invested in real estate. Prior to FTing we'd always spent a part of the winter in FL and loved FL. So 11 yrs ago we bought a RV lot on FL's east coast on Hutchinson Is. We owned it for 5 yrs and then sold it. It was a very profitable transaction. We looked around FL for another 'opportunity' and bought a lot in Silver Lakes Golf & RV Resort in Naples FL. We've owned this one 5 yrs as well and, so far, it has been even more profitable.
DW is disabled and generally needs one or more surgeries per year (17 since we started FTing). We try to schedule them during the winter months. Recuperating on the beach ain't all that bad. Having a winter location also gives us a chance to establish some good, lasting, medical relationships. It's also nice to not have to compete for nice winter sites and to be able to come and go as we wish. With a storage shed on the property we can also have a place for minimal long term storage. Some pix of our site are linked in our sig.
