Came across an RV park in California that utilized young people (20-30's) as workampers. Is their an age criteria (high or low)?

Age discrimination might become an issue if they aren't real careful.
We have laws to protect people from getting fired or not hired because of long hair or tattoos.

I think most of us are retirees, Like 60's and up. At least that's what I'm seeing.

That's what my wife and I had previously noticed.

I would think they could hire anyone they wanted or thought would best be suited for the job.But if someone ever mentioned in an interview "your too old" then there's a problem.

Yep, age questions at hiring time would be a problem for sure. The "workampers" we normally encounter are seasoned campers & retired.
Thanks for your response

I'm in my 30's. DH is in his 40's. We workkamp/camphost. Are you saying they shouldn't hire younger people? We had a chance to retire early, no kids to keep in school. So we figured, why not. The camphosting allows us to stretch our budget a bit, just like most everyone else.

tandemsuit - I don't think anyone on here said that campground owners should not hire younger. I think the reason you see mostly older camp hosts is because that's the demographics of the folks who are looking for that kind of job. At least in my case, I know I wouldn't have been looking for a carer in campground hosting when I was younger (too many responsibilities and VERY dependent on a big pay check). Now, with my Pension and SS, I can afford to take a job I enjoy regardless of the size of the pay check. Other than yourselves, how many young people do you know personally who would work for a just an RV site or minimum wage?

My husband and I are teachers in our 40's, and we workcamp in the summer. My 16 year old son also workcamped with us this summer. So...age is not always the criteria when hiring. We happened to be able to fill a void at a busy time of year for the campground. We like to work next to a national park, work part time and hike the rest of the time. Will look to do that again if we can find the right situation.
