We have a Duo Therm Penguin in the bedroom. It'll freeze you out but this one has a problem other than cooling. It's leaking water onto the bed. I mean it's raining inside when it's not raining outside. I'm a "Jack of all trades" but "Master of None". Does anyone out there have an idea? I'm in the Miami area, it's very humid and I need both units. Thanks for any ideas you might have. Dave

Take the cover off and tighten the bolts that hold the unit to the roof. While you are there clean or replace the air filter.

It sounds like the drain is blocked. Go on the roof and check for water coming from the drain. If it is not draining, push a screw driver through the drain.

Your problem is simple. It is condensation. Take it off Auto and run the fan on high. That will solve your problem. It is caused by high humidity.
It will fix your problem, I promise.

1. Is it ducted? If so, check the Freeze Thermister. If you have a wall tstat, it has a Freeze control. Either Bi metal or Thermister.
2. See 1. If it is freezing up and then thawing, the drain system cannot handle that type of water drainage and will come inside
3. IF Ducted and has Freeze Thermister, it should NOT condensate inside regardless of the Humidity or Tstat setting.
4. If it does NOT leak in rain, then tightening the mount bolts is not needed.
5. Possible that the evaporator drain pan is cracked. If so, Dometic will replace the complete upper unit under the 3 year warranty.
6. Possible that the drain outlets in the pan are clogged.

It will fix your problem, I promise. I'm trying to understand the thinking here about the fan. Please enlighten me.

First I would check to see if the drain is blocked, next would be condensation due to the high humidity. See this happen (humidity) in houses many times.

I had the same issue with the penguin in my Monaco Diplomat. The "rain" was coming out of the light fixture and smoke detector. Bacically, it was condensation in the ducts. It was caused by Monaco not adequately sealing the cold air outlet side from the inlet side. Remove the inside bezel and you'll probably see leaks between outlet and inlet sides. Use metal duct tape to seal around the divider and also seal the ducted connection on the outlet to prevent cold air from getting to the insulation areas of the roof.

If you read your manual you will see the condensation problem in high humidity. Some units will drip water when in use in these area, including mine. If you let the fan run all the time, as the manual says it evaporates the condensation and will not drip anymore.
That is what he is having, he is in Miami the highest humidity you can have.
It will fix it. Not all units do it but enough that the manual address it.
