Ok.. Got alot of great advise from you guys in my "Thoughts of pulling 5er W 1/2 Ton" Question. After digesting all this info and going with a little gut instinct, Im sure I will go ahead with my plan and get a Springdale 245Bh FW. The pin weight is about #850 Dry and probally #1000-#1200 loaded.

My question is if Im considering "Beefing up" suspension.. For an 06 Ram QC 1500 Hemi.. Would you suggest going with ...
1) Nothing at all.
2) Timbren System
3) Air Bag type system

We are basically "Weekender" type campers.. About 6-8 times a year and usually dont go more than 4 Hours from home. All pros and Cons welcome !

Timbrens are cheap, fast to install, non-adjustable and HARD!
Took mine off, but current fiver is a lot lighter than the last one.
Never tried air bags.

Timbrens are the cheaper way to go for sure, i'me not saying the best but the cheapest. I have Timbrens on my 1/2 ton and they work good and with the 5er on they do a really good job i am happy with them.

keep in mind that for the timbren to start supporting weight the truck has to squat down on it.

That is unless you have a butt high truck and then they should start working at the closer to level mark

Why don't you hook it up and try it and go from there?

With my truck empty the axle only had to move 1" before it hit the Timbrens. With the expansion joints in MI roads that was not hard to do. Back of the truck jumped and skittered around like crazy.
Already had Bilsteins so I took the Timbrens off. No more problem.

I went with the Timbrens, but gave a hard ride empty when going over bumps in the road. It would give a hard "smack" on certaim roads. I returned them, installed airbags and it was great.
Go airbags, adjust when empty, or any size load

Have a suspension shop rebuild, or replace your spring back for a higher load rating, some folks clam that air bags or timbrens can damage the frame over time. I have never seen it, but I have not looked for it. JMO

Air bags are worth the bucks and you can cut the ends off of the bone jarrin' bottom OL springs and really improve the ride - you won't need them with bags. Craig

Do you want something adjustable?
Will you want to take out 'sag' when hooked to your 5th wheel?

If either answer is yes, Id go with airbags. They are a bit more difficult to install, but they are great. Airbags will work from 5# air pressure to the max of 100# and everything in between. They are in effect 'working' when your truck is sitting in its normal unloaded position. This does not mean you will have a hard ride empty.
