The reason they drive that fast, is because there is no enforcement in that stretch. US90 is a pleasurable drive that I've done three times in the last five years. Another vote for Sanderson fuel, watch out for the donkeys.

We just returned from Big Bend and Highway 90 is in great condition. Gas in each town along the way was available and saw many RV parks.

We almost always drive US-90 rather than I-10. It's a good 2-lane road, fuel is readily available, and as others have mentioned, it's a more interesting drive.
Marathon has a nice Passport America park, Marathon Motel & RV Park. It isn't anything fancy (by no stretch of the imagination is it a "resort" park), but the owners are friendly and the RV park has nice, wide spots.

We did that route up 90 last winter. Pretty nice road actually, and no problems with getting fuel. We got fuel at Sanderson also if I recall correctly. No speed advantage to go on I-10 and the scenery is better on 90, IMHO.
The fishin sure was good in Del Rio.... but not as good as the carne asada at Ma Crosby's in Ciudad Acuna. Yum. One of my all time favorite eateries.
