Take a whole head of cabbage and cut the heart out----sprinkle in lots of your favorite spices--I like cajun spice and use lots of it then take a stick of margarine and shove it in the hole where the heart was and then sprinkle on more spice and then wrap well in tin foil.----cook on the grill or in oven at 400 degrees till feels squishy usually bout and hour or so--depends on how tight the cabbage is---put it in a cake pan if in oven in case tin foil leaks

Keep it simple -- chop half a head of cabbage, pour in a can of diced tomatoes (may be the one with Italian spices) cut up a stick of skinless smoked or Polish sausage. Cover and cook for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally to break up cabbage chunks.

I make what I call "MARIAN'S STEW," so-named after the woman who shared her recipe.
1 head cabbage, cut into large chunks
2-3 potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 carrots, peeled and cut into chunks
1 large onion, peeled and cut into chunks
1 green pepper, chut into large pieces
1 pound German sausage, sliced into slices
salt/pepper to taste
1 cup water
In large stock pot, place all ingredients and cook till potatoes and carrots are done (everything else should be done by this time). Serve with cornbread sticks, and it is "oh so good" (as Mr. Food would say). This is one of those recipes you can adjust amounts to make as much or little as desired. I usually use two large heads cabbage, more carrots, more sausage, and more onions than recipe calls for, because I prefer those ingredients. A couple of potatoes seems to multiply for some reason!!

I like to just cut up cabbage and place in a foil pan. Add butter and salt and pepper to cabbage, cover with foil and cook over fire until tender. MMMMM.

We actually cut the cabbage in half; hollow out the each half and stuff it with cut up bratwurst or a hamburger mixture (similar to stuffed cabbage). Wrap in foil as you do and throw on the camp fire. The outer leaves of course are burnt but -- oh my -- the inner cabbage and the meat and soooooo good. In fact, I'm doing it again this weekend when we camp out.

LOL! I noticed that too. I don't have any healthy cabbage recipes but sure do like the looks of some of these. No, wait, there is coleslaw...
German Summer Slaw
4 cups shredded cabbage
1 med red onion shredded (or fine dice)
1 med green pepper chopped
1 carrot shredded
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 tsp salt (I use 1 tsp)
In a saucepan bring vinegar, sugar, oil, and salt to a boil while stirring. Turn off and allow to cool.
In a bowl combine cabbage, onion, pepper, and carrot. Pour vinegar mixture over and mix. Refrigerate overnight.
There ya go! Healthy! There is that pesky sugar and oil though...

This is a favorite of mine.
In my largest pot (basic dutch oven size) I put:
a layer of peeled, cut potatoes with enough water to cover them, and turn on the heat
one finely chopped large onion,
one large head of cabbage chopped into bite-sized pieces,
one-half of a small can of corned beef (this is sort of rectangle shape) and
sometimes two teaspoons of caraway seeds.
Cook until everything is cooked through, add salt and pepper to taste.
Serve with buttered home made bread or crusty rolls.
Even with the canned corned beef, this is low calorie. It is also better the next day.
I hope you enjoy it.

I read the posts and combined them yesterday.
Halushki with bacon, a can of diced tomatoes, garlic, some beef broth and ham broth. I think the ham bullion was the only thing I came up with myself. What a great dish. I did not drain the grease and added a stick of butter. Nice and slippery.
