We are planning on driving the entire Natchez Trace next year from south to north. I'd like to hear from anyone that may be familiar with the route and would like to pass on tidbits such as what to see, where to stop, campgrounds along the way (good or bad). We have about a week to make the trip.

Thanks!

Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving;

Pls. visit http://www.nps.gov/natt/. I've taken the 'Trace' about 4 times and look forward to taking it again this year!! Why? There's no commercial traffic and it'll get where you want to be "north or south" if you are not in a hurry. Get fueled up before entering the parkway is my only advice. God Bless America.

It's a great drive. Mind the speed limit, take your time, stop at all the pull outs to read about the history of the Trace and this area. There are some NPS campgrounds along the trace and one private CG near Tupalo, MS with full hookups. There is gasoline at one campground just north of Jackson, MS but otherwise you will need to exit the trace for fuel. There are no commercial trucks, no billboards, and no stoplights just miles and miles of scenic beauty and nature.

Great drive. We drove it last year. Stop at the first visitor center or info kiosk and pick up the National Parks mile by mile map. Will give you the info you need.

The three campgrounds on the Trace are free but no hookups. It's a great drive. We've taken it both directions.
