OK, Buckeye State, get ready. I'm making another trip from Columbus, GA, to Bay City, MI, to visit the grandkids. To be perfectly honest, I believe I'd rather be set on fire for 15 minutes than have to drive on I-75 through Dayton. It is perpetually under construction somewhere in or around Dayton.

This isn't a sightseeing journey so I'm taking the direct route and not a scenic route. If possible, I'd like the phone number of someone north of Dayton that I can call who will give me a Xanax when I finally make it thorough. I'll be heading back south later on so I'll warn everyone then.

Dayton's nothing compared to the full I-75 closure in Southwest Detroit.....

I hope you're planning on taking US-23 N out of Toledo and rejoining I-75 in Flint....

Dayton was still a mess in August, I hope they get it finished soon. Have to sometimes drive from Cinci to Dayton to catch cheaper flights, not fun.

Absolutely!! No offense to our friends in Detroit but I ain't lost nothing there and have no reason to go. US 23 is the only real way to get there, although, I can remember when it seemed to always be under construction, too.

Just did 23 to 75 north last week and there were no problems. I travel to the UP once or twice a year and never use 75 the entire way. Just follow the signd from the tpk and your be fine

Thanks, Roadtrippin, I've made the trip more times than I can count. I can turn on the cruise control and the MH knows how to get there (or not).

Even the cruise control balks at Dayton. Can you tell I don't like that part?

Use caution while traveling through Michigan. I understand that after losing to Toledo this weekend the Wolves are in a nasty mood!

You want to talk nasty moods. Auburn lost to Arkansas. I was born in Arkansas but I graduated from Auburn. When it comes to football, I kinda, sorta, gotta pull for Auburn.

They are fixing malfunction junction (Rt 4 at I 75) just north of downtown. Not to worry it may be done in 5 yrs or so. They are still working on the I 70- I 75 jct. It may also be done some day. Not a fun town to travel thru. Orange barrel city. Try to look at the bright side. Not that many miles although seems like it.

Movin' On said Dayton is "Not a fun town to travel thru." Neither is it an easy town to go around. When I go to Michigan, I just don't have much choice but to go through Dayton and personally see someone's tax dollars at "work," in a manner of speaking.
