When boondocking, I have 2 coach batteries which run a Fantastic Fan or the furnace. I also have a small inverter and a small box fan. I don't like generators, didn't want one.
The truck has A/C, which is nice for driving (my pre-Tiger did not have it) and lets me arrive at a campsite with the Tiger all cooled down.

I've gone to some effort & expense to quiet my Onan to 56db(A) at 22' from the exhaust. I'm not at all shy about running it in truck stops, rest areas, or typical WM parking lots. I sometimes run it all night for A/C & white noise.

shadowz wrote: I got a question. Aside from being able to go back and use the head while underway, what advantage do your Tigers have over a quality modern truck and camper combo? I'm sure each of you considered this when choosing to buy. What other buying considerations did you have? I suspect you have gotten your question answered, but this has not yet been mentioned. We had our small Class C parked in a WAL-MART next to 3 pickup's with slide in campers. It rained most of the night, about 5:30 AM a security guard knocked on the back door and asked if we could move as a semi needed to make a turn where we were all parked. I merely scooted forward in PJ's and moved to another corner of the lot. The other three pickups had to dress including rain gear to move their rigs. Now how many times does that happen? Maybe never will again, but made us chuckle just a little. I think you will also notice, for some reason, the slide in campers have about 7 steps to get up into the camper from the rear. I don't know how many times you would remove the camper and then have to slide it back in to go camping. I know it would never be properly configured for my intended use.

It's this kind of talk about the Tigers that keeps me looking at them. Once again Jim (et. al), thanks for the detailed information.
Any hey, do ya think the Tiger could park in NYC??
Why Full-Timing? Because at my age, I have maybe 40 more chances to see flowers bloom.

I have a Tiger XL on a Chevy Astrovan chassis, mini class c at 16 ft bumper to bumper.
(My previous rig was a 34 ft Beaver dp, Pontiac minivan toad)
It weighs in at 6000 lbs.
My rig gets 16.5 mpg at 60 mph, has an Onan gen set, fully self contained w shower and toilet, 100w solar, inverter 1kw to be added "soon".
I removed the roof air and added Fantastic fan, but it has dash ac, cc, the passenger seat swivels around.
It is compact ultra and very sailboat cabin sized inside, but at 16 ft long (smaller than a VW bus , smaller than a regular cab full sized pickup truck with 8 ft cabover camper - the size to small for a shower), I can u turn in the smallest side street and drive 350 miles on 21 gallons of regular, and when I have to stick my foot in it she really jumps up to speed very quickly .
9 ft tall.
You might see me parked in "compact only" spots or in the smallest state park campgrounds (the ones with a 16 ft limit) , boondocking in Quartzite, but parking in front of the restaurants ... i love the looks when I slide into the tiny spots in front of stores and markets!
Big rv drivers look down their noses at me, but I laugh and give em the 'wave" !

ps If you are overweight , a Tiger (XL) might not be for you - I am not fat but I am 6'3" , me and Gretchen hit the road a lot - for instance we are going on a 2 week 2000 mile sojourn to Death Valley and Quartzite dec 20 till jan 3

I have been thinking seriously about a Tiger or a Scotty or a "B" at the end of next year. I "roam" alone, and pulling a 5er is just not needed. I too hope that this thread can keep going for a long time to help me make my decision next year. I want to go to Alaska in 2010, and I just can't see pulling a 5er up there alone, and I can't see being in a camper that doesn't allow you access to the driver's seat without getting out of the camper.

Gene thanks for starting this thread.. ahh yet another thread i will now be addicted to.. Since the first time i discovered the tiger, its been the RV i've wanted, but could never afford new,and so few used available.. I almost bought an xl several years back but it turned out to be in bad shape. So I've "settled" for a b class (falcon clf) for a couple of years then "moved up" to a b plus, augusta sport.. i have loved both my rv's.. but still "pine" for a cx. SO here's my question... is the cabover bed comfortable? The "cabover" bed in my falcon was only good for storage because the room between the mattress and the roof was too small. And secondly . is there enough room to stand in the shower or is it a sit down shower.. Some day i'll actually get inside a tiger..

I haven't been in a CX , only my XL. The shower is a stand up but it's tiny - most def not a two person shower! remember I am 6'3".
The overhead bed is sleepable, me and Gretchen both sleep up at the same time. We think that another 6" height over the bed would be great, and (I) think a couple inches headroom overall would be better - the rear is about 6' and the front part 9when you enter in the side door) is about 6'2".
Probably the creator of the Tiger molds was a 6'er.

Which brings up another question. With so few available, the resale value on these must be outstanding. Correct??

I've been driving a small 4x4 RV since 1991, first the pre-Tiger and now the Tiger. Everywhere people leave notes on it, come bang on the door, whatever - What is that? And where can I get one? So I suppose if I ever want to sell it, it will have a good value.
From what I observe on the Tiger owners group website, 2WD Tigers are also of interest to many people.
