My sons were raised on our LT80, in fact i loved riding it too!!!

Injected 2 stroke auto, never had a problem with it. Like the energizer bunny it kept going and going....One of the best quads i ever bought.

I will say the same, will outrun a honda 90 and last just as long. Just get an 02'or older for the gree sticker.

Our youngest (7yrs old) is on the trx90....wouldn't have him on anything else. It has a green sticker (the 4stroke meets California emissions) He started on it (from a 50) two years ago (we gave him 2nd gear then added another gear as his skills improved) and now shifts through the gears, rides in the dunes and jumps like there's no tomorrow. It's been an awesome bike. And...most importantly, it's holding up to the hard riding it gets in the sand.

Stay away from the Raptor 80. It couldn't keep up with our oldest. He blew it up and the stator had problem after problem.

Any of the 2strokes will have a red sticker.

Good luck on your search.

(Please feel free to send PM if you'd like more information)

I second the stay away from the Yamaha Raptor 80. My son had one ( actually we still have it, I cant bring myself to off that hunk to anyone elses kid. Same issues- no power and stator fried the 2nd trip out!!! I also have 2 TRX90s ( dont know if Im allowed to say I want to sell them). Two other boys rode them everywhere in Glamis. Great little bikes!!!

Hi All, and thanks for all the replies. it looks like the trx90 is the best choice for my daughter. I'm not worried about it getting outrun by a quicker quad, and we dont get to go out all that often, so her skills will be slow to develop. it would be the perfect starter quad for her, and as she grows and gets more skilled, she can graduate to Mommy's 250ex, then onto my 400ex. if anyone has one they want to get rid of, (maybe possibly trade for my fishin' boat), please PM me.
I would like to come up with one by early next spring.

Ahh, heck, maybe I should just go for broke, forget the whole starter quad, and just strap her down on a fully tricked Banshee,....Hhmmm,....yeah that ought to go over REAL WELL with my wife! LOL! just kidding!

For that price you can get a new one from the dealer OTD, this used one you still would have to pay tax and registration on. Or pick up a used LT 80 for $1000, and have something better.

Just wanted to say Thanks again to everyone for all the previous replies.
I did just sell my little fishing boat today, so now the quest to find a trx90 for my daughter will advance into "full tilt boogie". LOL!

I am VERY much looking forward to this coming spring and summer, and spending some quality Daddy/Daughter time on the quads.

Her only criteria is she wants a Pink one to match her helmet, and riding gear.
Sheesh!
Women!

Everything has always got to be a **Fashion Statement!** LOL!
I've already told her that she is going to have to settle for some pink stickers!
(So NOW,... I've also got look for every PINK, offroad, quad-chick related, sticker ever made)
Ebay, Here I come...

And BTW-
NO !!, She DOSE NOT have Daddy wrapped around her little finger!....
(now I just gotta go out and find her a quad...)
(and PINK stickers...)
(and with MY luck,... she probably wouldn't be caught DEAD in LAST YEARS Pink riding gear! I mean,.... WHAT WAS I THINKIN"???)

PLEASE ! Somebody help me,... SAVE ME,...
(or better yet,..just SHOOT ME NOW !)

I have a 9 year old daughter (going on 20) who, like yours, MUST have everything pink and girly. She, like yours, graduated from a clone quad to her new Polaris Predator 90. It's pink and white.

I was actually shopping for a TRX for her, but found the Polaris (I've never been a fan of Polaris) It has better suspension, comes with tires that look like holeshots, and it's an automatic so she doesn't have to shift gears or anything. AND It was about $800 cheeper then the TRX (bought new)

I'm fairly impressed with this quad, it has reverse, so she doesn't have to get off it and push to get it out of camp, Has headlight (so others can see her though the dust) and a horn!! Oh My God a HORN!!! *beep beep* She loves that damn horn... And it's fast! I have a buddy who's kid has a TRX 90 and they're about identical in top speed (adult racing and wheelies)except the TRX has to shift where the Polaris doesn't.

The brakes are a little hard for her small hands to work well and she has to stand up on the rear break to get the thing to lock up, and the kick starter is almost useless, but it's electric start... The battery took a dump and we had to buy a new one, but I guess that's how a lot of the smaller quads go.

Here's a picture

I have 10 year twin girls. They ride a Suzuki Z90 and an Arctic Cat 90. Both great quads and we are very happy with them. Both have electric start..Arctic Cat makes a black and Pick one too.

Well Hi all, I'm bringing an old thread back from the dead, but with good reason.
First This is not intended to be any sort of a "wanted" posting, so please don't reply in the thread with anything you have for sale. I don't want this thread to be Poofed away for breaking any rules.

What I am looking for is advise and recommendations on various brands and models to search for. Thanks.

So, let me say that after all of your great advise, I ended up finding a good deal on a '06 TRX90 for my daughter Cameron. She got quite a few hours of seat time on it in the back yard, learned all the saftey and basics, did about 1000 laps around the yard, and has now graduated to the open desert.
On her first weekend out to Johnson Valley we camped on Bessimer mine rd, between the lake bed, and the rock pile. There is a cool little track there, and she spent most of saturday mastering the gears, and hooking tight in the berms. Next thing I know, she's doing donuts in the top of second gear, and having a blast.

Sunday morning we did about a 10 mile loop, and she did great. I was really impressed with how quickly she is mastering the quad.

We went again 2 weeks later, and did a 20, and 25 mile loop. stopped a couple of times for a rest, and to have some lunch, and kept on going. Heck by next summer she'll be running me into the ground!LOL!

Well, now it is time to start looking for a upgrade for Cameron's brother Nickolas, and I could use some more advise.
I need to figure out what brand / model quad would be a good fit for Nickolas, and he has some different requirements.

As some of you already know, Nickolas is 10 years old and has Down Syndrome. He is short for the average 10 year old, but tall for a 10 y.o. with DS. he is stronger than a defensive lineman, has no fear, and wants to ride.(something I need to encourage in him).
He is a pretty sharp kid, but he does learn slower than a typical kid. as a result of that, I need to determine what quad would best fit his size, as well as his abilities.

My idea is that he will be best served on a quad near the same size as his sisters TRX90, (or a tad bit smaller, physically), but I also think that a fully auto/cvt type trans would be best for him. (I think grasping the concept of shifting might be a bit much for him right now).
I think it should have a throttle limiter, full running boards, or nerfs, 4 stroke, green stickered, and around 90cc.

I'm on a very limited budget, so a new one is out of the question.
So If you guys don't mind,...
What brands/models can you suggest that would meet the above criteria, and be a dependable machine.

He will be just as happy on either a atv sport type, or a utv type of quad.

so list out what brands/models I should be looking for. it will help me when searching craigslist, recycler, ebay, etc. You can also PM me if you like.
Or if you can suggest other places to search for one then please let me know where to go looking.

Thanks again for all your help, and hopefully we can share a campfire sometime.
Ron

Ron I wouldn't hesitate to suggest the Polaris 90, served my to boys very well. Forward & Reverse, we had an Eton as well but the electronic shifting could drive my youngest crazy at times too. Eton was smaller, bit sportier but IMHO not as stable as the seat seemed a bit higher up. The Polaris seat was also very comfortable too. I don't know how it meets CA standards, but you can find that out pretty easy. Watch CraigsList, that's where I sold both of ours.
