Sleepy,

My favorite camping beach just north of San Francisco at Bodgea Day is Wrights beach. Basically the camping is right at the bottom of the bluff where it meets the sand. You might need reservations. It is part of the Sonoma Coast state beaches. I know you don't care for campgrounds but you might find this one a little different.

Sleepy, you're one of my "heros" on this forum - I'd like to get out and go the way you do now that I'm retired. I may be PMing you about some things related to extended stays on the road if you don't mind. You will need reservations for Wright's Beach campground, and it's listed, I think, under Sonoma State Beach Campgrounds along with Bodega Dunes Campground. The sites at Wright's Beach are right on the beach, and I would highly recommend it, too, if you can make a reservation. Wright's Beach is just a couple of miles north of Bodega Dunes. Happy camping!

We have made it to Mobile, AL.

I made an amature mistake today: I had our empty propane take filled, the other was already full. I opened the vaves, kissed the attendent and left.

Four hours later... checked the trimetric... The batteries were down 50%.

I had forgotten to purge the air from my propane lines. The auto feature on the refridgerator had switched me to 12V... not a good thing.

We are carrying over $5000 in refrigerated Forteo medication for my wife... temps are critical, must be between 36 and 46 degrees F. At least we didn't lose the meds.

The generator started, and we let the generator recharge...

The only thing thst seems natural is forgoing camp grounds. we are rusty on everything else.

Thanks for the comments and emails.

You folks have a fun, safe trip.

Be sure to post up when you get the chance. Always enjoyable to keep tabs on these "road trips".

I'd love to do the same someday. That is, just take off and go, with no set destination in mind. Every days an adventure.

Again, have fun.

By chance were you driving south on I-65 late Wed afternoon? I was north of Montgomery coming back from Ft Walton and saw a Lance headed south. I did notice the truck had the spare on his front bumper.

I also saw an AF headed north on I-65 near the Tennessee River on Tuesday.

We haven't been in Austin , TX yet... we'd like to do the capital, museums, art galleries and maybe get to see (hear) Austin City Limits.

Yep. Don't miss Austin (and, if possible, the Limits) whatever you do. It's one of my favorite places in the State.

I'm not sure if you are into micro breweries; if you are, there are some absolutely excellent micro breweries in town.

Also, lots to see and do on the UT campus...

Safe travels!

That was us... we parked at the BassPro, Prattsville for the night.

Did you make a quick run to Fla and back?

The lady at the Al visitors center is from your area... I said something about Flat Rock, she asked if I meant level pebble... she went on to say some in the area smiled when they said level pebble instead.

It was good to have missed you (crash wise) but it would have been nice to visit.

Sounds like yer not going too far into the Northwest, so we'll miss paths again.

Right now, there's no camping season on my horizon, just day in, day out sitting in front of the computer submitting resumes and occasionally some maintainence work on the camper.

A good example of that would be today, where I took the jack off the passenger side rear corner and scraped the caulk off and redid it with Dicor Lap Sealant (Yes, they do make a product that works on vertical surfaces, stuff will make your eyes water in short order, even outside!)
