Still what to know what the gear ratio is with the Max Tow Package!

IIRC is is 4.30 Don.

All Tundras with the 5.7 V8 get the 6 speed trans and 4.30 rear end. No other choice.

And that is what I was waiting for, OP posted in the first post
Snip "I have a 34 ft 5th wheel which is about 10,000 lbs empty and loaded up is 12 K with fifth wheel hitch, generator, gas, tools, etc in the truck box."

Passing transport trucks on a hill I could feel a very slight sideways push on the back of the truck, but never enough to budge me in the lane.

Total trip: 1,187 miles.
Fuel consumed 117 gallons! Mostly 91 octane" = 10 MPG" SNIP

You honestly think anyone believes you are making 10 MPG towing over loaded passing trucks on hills (right ) with a 5.7 and 4:30 gears no way in heck.

I have an early 04 (as in NO emissions) Ram CTD with 3:73 gears and got 14.6 average on our trip to the Keys and back. Our gas Ram 4.7 with 3:96 gears towing a 7200# TT made 7/8 tops towing on flat level ground.

As a point of reference my Titan with a 5.6L and the equivelent of 4.10 rear gets 9-11mph depending on terrain towing my TT that checks in around 7500lbs. Canadian math must be different than our math or something. I have hard time believing 10mpg average towing 12k lbs too unless that has alot of down hill runs in neutral and a tail wind.

And your point is hone eagle, the discusion is weight not tailgate. Unlike the big 3 Toyota fixed the gate in 1 year and not when the feds made them.

I get about the same mpg in my rig.

So now it's my math that is dubious? I'm surprised anyone intelligent enough to figure out how to post on this forum is not aware that it's the final drive ratio that dictates engine RPMs at a given speed. Secondly, the MPG is dependent on more than just engine RPMs, although at a given speed, higher revs usually equates to higher fuel consumption. Thirdly, the amount of air you are pushing has a much bigger impact on your fuel consumption than the weight you're pulling -- once you're up to speed, that is, and on relatively flat ground. Sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious here, but someone had to do it.
I'm sorry for the Dodge and Titan owners whose mileage may not compare favorably with the Tundra.
What exactly would be my motivation to tell the truth about the trip, the truck, the trailer, the loading, and then suddenly fudge the numbers on mileage? I posted total miles driven, total fuel consumed. Do the math yourself if you don't believe it. Or did someone not quite pass grade 7 math?

For anyone still checking, here is a picture of my truck with trailer attached.

That's 5 1/2 inches of clearance between the bed rails and the 5th wheel, by the way, and I've not hit yet. Also, the trailer is level when on level ground.

Thanks.

If I recall correctly you can get the 4.1 rear end with the 5.7 and 6 spd. if you delete the tow package (if you get the sport appearance package).

Maybe it’s possible, but I’ve never heard of a 5.7 with anything but the 4.30.
