ditto....I know several with Toyota trucks....they're fine, till you try to work them like a truck, then they have the same issues as any other 1500/150 truck....

I just got my '07 Tundra, but I had a '00 Tundra for close to 10 years before. One thing I have been told many times is "One of the reasons I bought a Tundra was after seeing you work your Tundra so hard and it just keeps on keepin' on.".

Before I started pulling my '26 Rockwood with the '00 I had it carrying an almost 2000 lb. camper and the only thing that slowed it down going up in the mountains was not another Tundra *G*... usually it was one of those "F" words. The 5'er made it work harder which is why I now have the '07 Tundra as it now is only slowed down when going up the mountains pulling my 5'er by.... *G*

From my many years having drove Fords, GMC/Chevy trucks before the Tundra I know for fact the Tundra never broke like the Ford/GMC/Chev did.

That's 5 1/2 inches of clearance between the bed rails and the 5th wheel, by the way, and I've not hit yet. Also, the trailer is level when on level ground.

Not sure what that has to do with anything. No one mentioned bed rail clearance and your airbags are keeping your rig level. So what? Still doesn't mean you aren't overloaded or shortening the lifespan of your drive train. Just means you don look overloaded and are putting the stress of your overloaded rig on the area of the frame where the air bags meet it instead of spreading it out over the leaf springs like an HD would be. Your airbags can make a very nice fulcrum to bend your frame. Perhaps not as likely with a 5er as with a TT but entirely possible.

Imagine the weight you could load if you just deleted the springs and welded in metal blocks and metal rods for shocks!!! It wouldn't sag and you'd be totally level whatever the load you had!

No one is disputing that the Tndra can tow a heavy trailer dude so relax. However it does not sound like your 5er is checking in at 12,000lbs. Would you hook up to a 5er that size with your Tundra and head out for a few thousand miles?

The Freestar is a Ford Minivan that replaced the Windstar. They are very good vans. YES as a matter of fact they do make good Tow vehicles if they are used within their tow rating!

You don't need a 1 ton truck to pull a pop-up!

I know they are a minivan, I have drove them, "very" is not a word I would use with "good" in regards to them... this from experience driving them. They have their good points, Mazda parts.

Hmmm, nope my 5'er doesn't check in at 12,000 lbs. BUT my old Tundra wasn't rated like the new one either, so it pushed the limits of my '00.

But the comment I was more reply to was the post that the Tundra worked hard would be in the same broken pile of junk as the "3", and I know differently having drove them all.

~ don't know about highly educated, but I know I learned that knowing the service manager by name was not a "positive" for owning any of the b-3, and one of the factors for switching.
