Oh, and just so it's clear that I'm aware of what it feels like to tow with a vehicle that is clearly not suited for the job, I towed this trailer from Minneapolis to Oshkosh and back home with my father-in-law's F-150, (HD edition) and that was not fun. (The 3/4 ton Dodge I had at the time was in the shop -- again). Towing with the Ford, despite the heavier springs, like it was being pushed around by the 5th wheel. When a semi passed, I had to anticipate, and prepare for the sideways pressure on the trailer. I won't even mention what it was like climbing hills. Let's just say I experienced red-line and I was worried I was going to blow something up.

The Tundra IS a different experience, and I'm just the messenger

This is hilarious. I read through about 20 pages of this thread and there are lots of good points for both sides but to sum it all up American Made must be worried or he wouldn't be dwelling on it over and over again. The bottom line is the truck is a half ton truck. When I think of a half ton I think of hauling a small boat on the weekends or towing small flat bed trailers. The bottom line is it has a gas engine in it and after owning several GAS engines I must say....they really aren't made to tow....when Peterbuilt and Frieghtliner start using Toyota Tundra engines I will re think my statement but until then just go out and buy a diesel and then this will be over.....

I'm still trying to figure out when, as cwit claims, that someone called someone else, stupid. cwit has made a lot of accusations, yet backed nothing up, except for backing up towing W-A-Y over one's GVWR, that's been about it for cwit, me thinks THAT might be a record of sorts.

V10 Dodge, V10 Ford...both gas engines...NOT made to tow, huh? Hemi in a 3/4 ton chassis I suppose cannot get out of it's way either.

That's it..off to pick up a Jetta TDI for my trailer tomorrow.

Hey, some great gassers, but you left out the 8.1, 496 Chevy, another tow mule. I had one strapped to an Allison in 01'. I agree on the other gassers such as the V10's, don't know that much about the Hemi, do know my 8.1 (496) never met a gas station it didn't love,
but yeah, IT COULD TOW!! The difference was/is in mpg, at least for me, the 8.1 never got the mpg towing or empty that the diesel has.

ON EDIT: There are still several manufacturers thinking about dropping smaller diesels in some 1/2 tons. The smaller duramax,(4.5?), was canned, but now seems it may again end up being a possibility to be put in a GM/Chevy 1/2 ton truck.

Peterbuilt and Freightliner don't use little pickup truck diesels either. My truck has towed like a champ for the past 107k miles. I've owned six diesels. We're talking pickup trucks here, not OTR tractor trailers. Know the difference.

No, not even hardly. If you go to ATC, you'll see some that have 600 plus pages........even more, and most make a lot more sense than this one does..........
