In defense of the DDT ban in America, the substance apparently was devastating to some bird species--particularly the American Bald Eagle. Protecting that bird was a major reason for the ban of DDT.

If I had $200 million to spare, I'd buy them some DDT and let them all live.
Perhaps Bill has done more research on the issues than you have.
DDT IS still being used in India and several African countries under guidelines issued by WHO, although mosquitoes have developed some resistance to it. I don't know where you read that you can drink it, but effects of long-term exposure in humans include correlations with increase rates of miscarriage and decreased sperm counts, and it's a suspected carcinogen.

I remember the mosquito control trucks coming around when I was a kid, spraying some kind of insecticide, we thought it was DDT. We used to run through the fog so the skeeters would leave us alone.
It worked.
The stuff couldn't have been too bad, that was about 60 years ago, and there is nothing wrong with me...
uh...me...
me...uh
what were we discussing??
I also remember the "bug bombs" we had back then. You could shoot flies out of the air with that stuff. One squirt, and they crashed.
Great fun!
Before the "bug bombs" there were the hand pump sprayers. Same stuff, same results, more excercise for the arms.
A lot cheaper than the spray cans, too.

Yep! Works good - we do the research.
Go to the Roll Back Malaria (RBM) site - for reason/s
why it's more deadly & prevalent in Africa.
Wikipedia has good info on the ban of DDT also.
BTW - think: Agent Orange . At one time it was no big deal to
spray on (or around/above) our own troops.
Worked great for defoliation, though.
