We are driving to Chicago-Land for a wedding and on a Friday in late July, around noon, we will be in the area. We will not be pulling anything.
The hotel is in Mettawa, just off I-94 and Kennedy Road.
We are coming from the south. I just looked at an Illinois road construction site online and it showed quite a bit of construction on 294.
Would we better off taking IH-39 north around Normal and then driving East on IH-90 (looks like a toll road?)
I have performed a search but could not find any answers specific to our destination and route.
Thanks!

Taking I-39 to I-90 is about 50 miles longer trip.
If traveling in a car or pick up. I-294 should not be much of a problem.
IL. Tollway has been a work in progress from the fisrt day it was started. X-Flatlander

I am the original poster and I was just reading this current thread about Chicago driving and so now I am again asking if we should avoid IH-294?
The bride's mother has already told us about construction at the Kennedy Road/Highway 60 exit area in Mettawa.
Would appreciate any additional feedback. We are leaving on Wednesday. Thanks
