Wondering if anyone has been through there this summer and what the road conditions are like pulling 5th wheel, also is there plenty of fueling(diesel) spots? We are in Watson Lake for 2 days and are thinking of going on to Anchorage and coming back down 37. Talked to a neigbor camper who just came from Anchorage area and said there is a construction area 15 to 20 miles by Klaune Lake area thats really ruff.

I was on it 3 weeks ago and it was in good shape. Some heaves just south of Dease Lake (Gnat Pass) and just south of the Alaska Highway Junction but there's been more paving, notably the Burrage River hill. Fuel isn't common but not bad unless you have a very short range - fueling at Iskut and Bell II is enough for most folks.

Thanks explorenorth thats what I'm looking for I have range of 200 to 250 miles. just talked to a neigbor camper today that said it was in bad shape so I wanted to check.

We will be traveling the Cassier in a couple of weeks.
If you have time swing into Stewart and Hyder.
Just past Hyder you can go to Fish Creek to watch bears.
(small fee)
Eat lunch at the bus in Hyder amazing fish! Just ask the locals they will give you directions.
Just south of the turn off to Stewart/Hyder you will find Meziadin Lake Provincial Park. It is beautiful with campsites right on the shore of the lake.
We were there last year and got to watch a grizzly on a small island out in the lake.

You'll learn that the talk of road conditions in the campgrounds usually greatly exaggerate the actual conditions.
We drove the Cassiar north and south last year and will do the same this year, pulling our 25' fifth wheel. The conditions between Boya Lake and the BC/Yukon border were rough here and there, but nothing extraordinary. We generally fuel up in Watson Lake, Dease Lake, Bell II, Stewart and Iskut. That usually keeps us on the top half of the tank.
The Kluane Lake area has been under construction for a few years, but is usually good gravel driving, often behind a pilot car.
The section between Destruction Bay and Beaver Creek ... don't plan on making good time through there. It took us 3.5 hours to do the 100 or so miles. And we're fairly certain it was one of those frost heaves that bent the rear axle on the fifth wheel; things were spaced just right to launch everything even though we weren't whipping along. Just take your time. And when you think the road is a little better, just take your time.

Really have to do this road myself. i have not been there since I worked on its original survey's back in the early 70's. Never seen so much muskeg in my life. We had to use tracked vehicles to get our equipment into there.

Hi, not bad at all. We did it pulling 26,000 truck/trailer combined 3 weeks ago, no problems. Just watch for those inpatient drivers wanting to pass you anyway they can! I think that some of them are practising for off road rv racing.

Planning to leave late July and take the Cassiar.
Is the road to Dawson City and Tok, through Chicken, in reasonable shape. It bypasses the Kluane Lake area. We'll probably do that one of our directions.

First, Kluane Lake isn't on the Cassiar...it's on the Alaska Higway. The only way to avoid the Kluane Lake construction, either going to Alaska or coming back, is to go via the Top of the World Highway through Chicken and Dawson City to Tok or Whitehorse (depending on which direction you're headed).
The last time we drove the Cassiar Highway was in 2001. At that time, it was in good shape...I imagine by now, more of the road has been paved. And, yes, just like other places in Canada, diesel is readily available.
