This post is very interesting to me because I would have never thought that a manufactured part that was originated for a four wheel drive would be so limited. The rims I went to look at are an ALCOA-type rim that the man had bought to use on a rock crawler that he is building. They are 12" wide!! I am going to need to be sure they are going to work before I use them but at $100 buck for four I almost could recycle them to get my money back. I don't know also the way to determine hub centric or lug centric. Our camper was damaged last week by a tree falling on it and may be totaled because I just discovered the damage and it has been rained on all week.

Those rims were NOT originated for 4x4 use. They were designed for load capacity first, based on the tire technology of the time, with no real thought given to off-roadability.

Make sure what you are getting. Alcoa's are a "forged" wheel that is MUCH stronger then the "cast" look-alikes. AFAIK they didn't make the true Alcoa's in a 16.5" size.

He made a strange choice in wheels since it is the norm for rock crawlers run next to no air pressure in the tires for increased traction.

Sorry to hear about the camper damage. Hope it works out for you.
