This site shows you how to convert a minivan into a minicamper, you can download instructions at the bottom.

If I take the rear seats out of our MPV it does the same thing and doesn't cost any money. Add a $30 air mattress for a bed. Where does DW sit with the kayak in place? Couldn't download any 'plans'. I don't get what the person is advertising...

I think this mini-van conversion site is bogus!
DW must be exremely short in the torso end to sit comfortably...

Seraphim - the plans opened easily on my computer as a word document with photos. Presumably the spouse stays home when kayaking is to be done. Certainly a simple, easy, and cheap conversion.
I had a simple conversion done on my Sienna at Waldoch last year. I had them put a bank of two batteries in the third row area - giving me 155 amp hours of power to run my small fridge and ect... plus a fantastic fan in the roof. I have a single bed platform for sleeping, which is removable if I wish and also the end can be folded back to put the 2nd row of seats back in if I needed them. (haven't yet)
The area where you have your jugs of water is filed with speakers in my Sienna. What are you (or he... if you are not the converter) doing for window covers?

Seraphim - What's unique about my idea is that it utilizes extra space to make it easier to carry camping gear. The plans should open as a word document if you click the download link.
Mumkin- Thanks for your comments, I'm not quite sure what you mean by window coverings though? If you are talking about leaving the windows open on hot summer nights while not letting bugs in, I was thinking about attaching a piece of screening cut to find the Sienna's windows, although I haven't done this yet.

With the kayak in place you cannot sit there obviously, that picture was just to show that a 10-ft kayak can fit on the inside of the Sienna, a very roomy minivan. I'm not advertising anything just sharing my plans which more than anything else, make use of all space in the Sienna to create a mini-camper with no modifications to the vehicle itself.

As a woman traveling alone, when I sleep in the van, I prefer not to have people peering in the windows. Oh... and I do have a porti-potti too... and prefer not to entertain those around me if I use it. I put velcro strips on the frames and use felt backed/plastic table covering. I just hang a sheet across the front and close the moonroof cover to hold it up along with a clothes pin on each of the shoulder harnesses. Not fancy, but serves the purpose.
My main usage is in the winter rather than the summer, so mosquitoes aren't a worry for me. Snow and ice are, but if necessary I have enough battery power to keep me warm for many hours (a couple days?) if the weather holds me up.

Erik,
Very nice write up. For the purpose you describe, it's a creative low cost mini camper that leaves the van intact for regular use. Thanks for posting.

Finally got the document to open on another computer. It is a good use of space in a min-van, though I object to the phrase "fully equipped" (No toilet *grin*)and I probably wouldn't call it a "conversion". Nor unique. It was neatly done, though.
OK, so I'm being a nit-picky so-and-so. It's just my nature. Welcome to the forum Erik.
