We are camping next week at the Bar Harbor KOA. I understand parking is an issue in the town and was wondering if anyone knows about the shuttle service in that area. We are going on the "Lulu" (a lobster boat) which departs from the Harborside Hotel and parking our Van may be difficult. Any advice would be appreciated. Bruce

Sometimes you can find a spot along the harbor.

Check with the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce about parking. When we stopped in last October they were very helpful people.

We used the shuttle a couple of years ago and it worked well. It does stop at all the campgrounds on the way so allow a little extra time.

There is LIMITED rv parking on the west side of Main Street (SR 3) just south (five or six blocks)of the main business area. In July it is EXTREMELY LIMITED! Your best bet would be to check the schedules and ride the shuttle. It's very reliable. Just leave yourself a little extra time.

Bruce,

We were up there a few years ago with our Pleasure-way and found that we could park on the street in the residential area and then walk down to the harbor. When you get there, take a drive into town and check it out, it would be to the east of Main Street and I think you could fit your Vista there as it's not a wide body. I also agree that the RV parking lot will be full, it's really small.

I would use the shuttle, better than getting into town and not finding a place to park.....why take the chance. We were lucky enough to find parking when we got there, but we saw plenty circling, after that one time, we used the shuttle the rest of the week.

The shuttle is awesome, and it is free. It comes right in to your cg. The shuttle goes to the village green in Bar Harbor, then you can access most areas of Acadia. It is only a couple of blocks to walk down to the harbor from the vg, very easy. The exception is Cadillac Mountain, for that you need to drive, hike, or take Ollie's Trolley. The shuttle will stop/pick up anywhere along their route as long as it is safe for them to pull over. Enjoy your trip, I am there now, so please bring some sunshine with you, because it's not here!!!!
