Regular Bed / Extended Cab tuck equipped with a manual 15k slider with a 4 way pivot head pulling a trailer with an extended pin box. While the box size doesn't change GVWR, I do have Timbren's to help keep the squat to a min

I've used the slider a couple times to get the trailer to react a little quicker when backing into tight spot.

I'll chime in only because no one has yet mentioned the option I chose which is the Sidewinder pin box. I like the SW because it gave me the ease of use of an auto-slider at less than half the price. My truck is a SRW 3500 and I added the Firestone Ride-Rites after adding a leveling kit (2" lift) to the front. With 20 psi or more in the bags the helper springs never even engage even with nearly 3K of pin weight.

should be fine with up to 13K 5er. what I have seen on a lot of 2500HDs is the owner has tighten up the front torsion bar raising/leveling the truck. then when You load it looks squatted in the rear. if this is the case You could back off the front bars a couple of turns, lowering the nose and causing the truck to set level when loaded at no cost.

Pulled our alpenlite with our 1999 dodge 2500 SB gasser and even though the trailer is small and not heavy, it was a dog to pull! It lugged up the hills like a tired old man! Got the ford superduty 6.0 diesel LB and I don't even know the trailer is there. Hills that used to get the dodge down to 25 MPH are handled with ease with the ford. I have to keep my foot out of it to keep from going too fast even. Gas mileage is night and day too. the SB gasser never got over 12 MPG without towing. the LB diesel gets 12 mpg while towing and 18 to 20 without towing.
I never used a slider with the SB either. Just a old B&W hitch with the rails that go front to back and not across the bed. I was super careful to not jack knife the trailer too far. My BIL has a short bed ford and a slider and he's hit his cab twice now. I think his slider made him too cocky.lol

I am thinking about posting the same question. We just upgraded to an 05 Cardinal 35 which actually measures almost 40' and is 12K lbs empty. I am pulling it with an 05 F250 6.0L Diesel crew cab short box with a curt 20K slider hitch. 90% of our pulling is less than 20 miles to our local lake but we like to take one big trip a year. If I keep the truck I will definatly add the air bags. Curious if anyone has any suggestions on adding a performance chip? I know I will be over weight but don't have the cash to upgrade to a dually. The truck is my wifes daily driver and she is not real hip on parking a dually either. I am curious if anyone else is pulling a rig over 12K with a SRW 3/4 ton?

I tow with a Chevy HD2500 crew cab short bed and other than having to remember to look when turning tite I have no issues. I do like long beds and have towed my trailer with my fathers truck. If I were to get a new truck it would be a long bed single but the truck I have does fine. My trailer weighs about what yours does and you should be ok with your set up. Some will disagree but you decide.

Fifth wheel towing for that truck is 15900/15400 with a combined weight of 23000. Most everyone will tell you not to chip a 6.0, just asking for problems. Wouldn't think you would really need it anyway.

I'm pulling our 37' Everest, 12K dry with my '08 F250 6.4L and just added Supersprings this year. No more squat and the diesel can't be beat for towing. Same situation about wife driving and she won't drive a dually.
