Well I now have our 2006 BF inside it's heated winter home and will be doing some maintenance on it,, one of the main things we would like to do is reseal all roof vents , skylights ,, It has been recommended to us to use DICOR by some fellow BF owners on here through my persistent PM's to them,,,

I did some searching and I do not know which DICOR product to get for this job,,, it looks like the most popular type is from a tube that you use a caulk gun with and it will lay a bead down,, I do not need a bead, I need something that is more of a coating then a bead

Any one know which DICOR product I need and where to find in Ont Canada

Thanks
Ralph

Just a personal opinion but having used Dicor and Eternabond over the years, I highly recommend Eternabond. Nice clean application and makes a fantastic worry-free seal.

The factory caulk on my trailer looks like Dicor and is spread 2" or 3" wide to seal vents etc. I see no trouble with spreading the Dicor around a bit. Get the self leveling and it flows and spreads around a bit if you put a fat bead or two down. Warm day in the sun is best.

My existing caulk had a few cracks in it(thin areas) and I just wiped clean with a wet rag, let dry, and applied a Dicor bead right on top. Two years later the applied areas look fine.

It sounds like yours looks the same as mine does complete with some small cracking in it,, and thanks for the idea on a couple of beads and leveling/spreading it ourselves

I am about to do the same job as you. I bought 6 tubes of self leveling Dicor.
Lance told me to use a heat gun (blow drier) to soften the old sutff and scrape off with a plastic putty knife then apply. The old stuff should be removed as just filling existing cracks will not keep new one's from forming soon.

I have heard good things about etherbond. Also I am replacing the A/C seal because it has over 5 years on it.
Good luck

Eternabond is a life of the roof seal. Caulk is a continueing maintenance issue. Do it once with Eternabond and sleep easy when it's raining outside.

Do you use a Dicor or similar product to cover the edges of the Eternabond- specially the exposed edge that is upwind?

The eternabond website has terrific videos of the installation process. It does exactly what dicor does but lasts for 12 years.

Just yeaterday, an RV repair guy who owns the long time repair business gave me a tube of dicor, self-leveling to use on my roof to re-seal around vents, etc. so I assume that's what he uses.
