Does anyone else have this happen? While moving around inside my camper, I can hear my propane tank making noise - tick-tick-tick-tick. Not like a time bomb, but like the gas is sloshing around inside. If I stand or sit still, it gradually slows to a stop and is quiet again until I move. But it kind of drives me crazy. I thought propane was a actual gas not a liquid, so what's happening inside my tank? Thanks!

LP stands for Liquid Propane. Your tank is filled with LP which provides you with Propane Gas once you open the valve. The ticking sound is most likely the OPD (Overfill Protection Device) inside the tank.

Are you sure it's the LP tank? I sometimes hear a picture frame rocking against the wall or a key hanging from a hook make a little noise and it ALSO stops when I stand still for a few minutes. I could never hear my tank make any kind of noise short of an explosion from inside the trailer.

If you are sure it's the LP tank then I vote for the OPD ticking. However, in my case it was my DW flashlight hanging by a strap in a corner next to the bed. Slightest movement in the rig and it would tap-tap-tap against the cabinet.

I had a similar noise and it turned out it was one of the outside vents (the plastic flap opening and closing)

OPD valves don't tick !
Its the float on the OPD valve making the noise. I hear it often, but only when its near full,....or is it empty ?? I can't remember.

OPD can make a nice annoying TICK TICK TICK sound.

I have a small LP tank that drives me crazy when it is rocked back and forth such as in the camper.

Not much you can do but stop the wiggling.
