Forbes has another one of those exercises in stereotyping entitled What Your Car Says About You that reads in part as follows:
Porsches smack of success. Hondas preach practicality. And, according to a recent report, Chevys proudly proclaim of their owners, "I don't use the Internet." Your car implies more about your life than you might think. While 13% of Chevy owners don't use the Web, by contrast, less than 3% of Honda owners remain in the technological Stone Age. The antithesis of flashy, Honda owners are usually pragmatic and well educated; 70% boast a college degree or higher, compared with 35% of Chevy owners and 45% of Ford owners.
(This makes perfect sense to me. I have a Honda, and once had a Chevy and felt stupid for buying that piece of junk!)

Ah, bell curve stuff...aka...'The Herd'. Those in the meat of it and
those on the fringes or outside of the herd...
Bought my Mazda B2500 (daughter has it now) used. Didn't want a Ford,
but the deal was very good.
My 1980 C10 Silverado was given to me by dad.
My Caddy inherited from dad
My Datsun 240Z I bought new, so that represents 'me' at that time and
'me' now...though I was going to trade in my MGB on a Porsche 911S...till
that salesman said "kid if you have to ask, you can't afford it"...I
had more than enough in my bank account to buy it in cash...and...
dislike Porsche's to this day.
My Suburban I bought new, so that represents 'me' at that time and
'me' now....but I've had a Toyota FJ40, Chevy K5, Willy's and made
a Dune Buggy. The FJ40 was used. The K5 new. The Willy's found in
buddies back yard and his dad 'gave' it to use 15 year olds and took
it back when we finished restoring it. Made the Dune Buggy, so that
is 'me' at that time.
I've had email since the 1970's. Before there was the Internet, just
DARPA-net. I own a Ford and a Chevy, but have worked at the top 3rd
computer company in the world...in their research labs. So not the
uneducated person this study says I should be.
Sis is a researcher at Genentech and drives a Honda. She JUST GOT
a cell phone and MAC. First time she has had a computer at home. So she
is in the 3%.
I don't consider myself, ever, part of the herd. So these demographics
does not apply to 'me'...generally speaking
-Ben Picture of my rig

1980 Chevy Silverado C10/long bed/"BUILT" 5.7L/3:73/1 ton helper springs/+329Kmiles, bought it from dad...
1998 Mazda B2500 (1/2 ton) pickup, 2nd owner...
Praise Dyno Brake equiped and all have "nose bleed" braking!
Previous trucks/offroaders: 40's Jeep restored in mid 60's / 69 DuneBuggy (approx +1K lb: VW pan/200hpCorvair: eng, cam, dual carb'w velocity stacks'n 18" runners, 4spd transaxle) made myself from ground up / 1970 Toyota FJ40 / 1973 K5 Blazer (2dr Tahoe, 1 ton axles front/rear, +255K miles when sold it)...
Sold the boat (looking for another): Trophy with twin 150's...

What do these vehicles say about my wife and me? Dodge truck, Hyundai Sonata 4 dr sedan, 13 year old TT with no slide. Both of us in our 70s, both with college degrees. No Chevys (had in the past), no Hondas (had in the past). Just a pair of old f**ts enjoying life.

I don't agree with you at all. I think what a Honda normally says, is that it's owner doesn't know much about cars and relies on getting advice from publications such as CR.
I've been a car enthusiast all my life and I realize that many don't know much about automobiles, they just want something good that's 'recommended' by CR. That's fine. For these folks buying a car is like me buying a refrigerator... it's just another major appliance.
I would say anyone who refers to a Chevy as a piece of junk, likely fits into that category. They don't know cars and they really don't know Chevys.
I have a Buick sedan bought new, with the Buick 90 degree 3800cc V6.I bought it because it gave me the greatest amount of comfort for my rather large carcass. I also bought it because the Buick engine is an engine renowned for reliability and durability and has had that good reputation pretty well since it was first introduced, back in '61 . Of course it has evolved considerably since then.
BTW my Buick is/was recommended by CR, not that this had much impact on me...or I'm sure the typical reader of CR who seems to live by the mantra...domestic bad, import good.
I know those who pigeon hole others and use stereotypes as the main factor in determining other individual's characteristics would immediately brand anyone driving a Buick sedan as an old man.... tradition bound, inflexible and quite likely not familiar with the internet.
Although it's true I don't have a college degree, in
fact our colleges up here, for the most part don't grant degrees.
But, I do have two University degrees and I use the internet. I suppose according to the standard you refer...I'm driving the wrong car. Being well educated and somewhat pragmatic I should be driving a Honda, probably an Accord 4 door sedan with the optional V6.

Since I am on my 14th Jeep, I sure wouldn't agree with the first attribute. LOL The last is so true, IMHO, of me at least. In this part of the world, they have become somewhat a "yuppie" soccer mom type of vehicle. Hard to find a used Jeep in this area with out 100K miles on it.
I am used to using them in Colorado and Alaska, where most of the major body parts had been destroyed long before it got to 100K miles. LOL
