Well, right now as it stands, the defective fireplace is sitting at the dealer. I am waiting for a replacement. It's going on a week. I've only owned the Raptor for two weeks. Fireplace failed two days after ownership. Took the raptor out camping this past weekend without a fireplace and it would have been nice to use it, as it was slightly cold. So far the customer service from my dealer is going from about a "B+" to a "C"...

Could be something as simple as a thermo-couple. This turns off the gas valve if the elec. signal on the pilot does not prove. Bending the sensor a little so it stays red in the pilot flame has worked for me on furnaces!

Don't want to get off topic here- I have a Raptor but no fireplace. Have had multiple issues, from parts ( entire kitchen table and rear air mattress) missing to damaged slide out floors and slides leaking and getting mold inside. Dealer was about useless, Keystone reps not much better. Between the two of them, my unit has more miles on it back and forth for repairs than I put on it camping. Not sure I agree with suggestions above- The guy just spends 50 grand, and now he's supposed to diagnose the problem himself???? this sounds just like ours started out, and it never got many better. Every time we used it, something else was wrong or broken. Worst mistake I ever made. Wife is so upset she doesn't even want to go camping anymore.

Sorry to hear about your problems DuallyMIke. Can you be a little more specific on the slide out issues? I had a Cougar before the Raptor and it had it's own share of issues, but nothing that I wasn't able to fix myself, except for a huge dent I put into the side of it. At any rate, I traded the old Cougar and baught the Raptor. I really feel sorry for the dealer, because now they have some new owners of a used Cougar(they sold it already), that I know will need some work done to it and now they have to deal with me on the new Raptor. I am not really sure who to blame at this point, the dealer or Keystone. The jury is still out.

Hey Mike, I know everything is supposed to be perfect on delivery. There are so many components to these rigs. So many things like fireplaces mfg. by others and supposedly checked out before Keystone receives them. Sometimes having an all around background in components and structure is not a real biggy to some like me. We read all the time on this site how others decide to take care of their own problems and suck it up. Of course there are others not mechanically inclined, and still others fall in the middle. Just playing devils advocate, and looking at the whole picture. Being an owner, I realize it can be a very aggravating experience for anyone.

I recently took delivery of 2010 Keystone TH and fully expect there to be issues. I'm sorry for the problems that you have had and believe the dealer and/or mfg is not stepping up. So many companies looking at their short term bottom line and not taking care of business. As consumers it's important to voice, just as we're doing here.

My diagnosis on the FP was a simple diagnosis like scratching an itch. Just happen to be in the HVAC area of work. I would like to give to this forum as much as I know, because already I have learned so much!

Slide issues were- the night we picked it up, my wife noticed a huge gash in the rear linolieum. Didn't notice at the time, but the rear slide floor was pulled down from where it mounts to the side wall. Dealer has told us now that the floors are so weak on these that you can't step on them when slideout is in. Guess that means we can't use the dinette unless we open the slide. Bedroom wardrobe slide has apparently been leaking since day 1. We only take about 8 trips a year, so we didn't know this. While on our long vacation of the year, we noticed a real bad smell coming from the bedroom wardrobe, and found it and all of our clothe in there to be covered with mold. Also found the shower had been leaking all the time, too, but the way the water was running we didn't notice it until it soaked into the bedroom floor and the storage area underneath. Keystone wanted to take it back to the factory to fix leaks, so that's where it is now. Had big issue with their rep telling me one thing in person about warranty on floor that was water soaked, then leaving a voice message on my phone cancelling that offer. Got a call from a customer service rep who was more intent on yelling at me and threatening not to repair my unit than he was about my concerns. What a class organization!

I was lucky to meeat one of Keystone's reps at the dealer the day I returned the defective fireplace. He did respond, but when I questioned him, he was very researved in his answers and very reluctant to say anything. I feel like this is an organisational problem with Keystone as they probably do not empower there CS reps to take care of most problems. But if Keystone happens to be reading these posts, they need to be more attentive to their customers and treat them like we are somebody. After all, We just made the second largest purchase of our lives. The other problem I have is that these trailers take such a huge hit in depreciation, unlike homes. I understand the mobile home market is pretty much the same way.

At any rate, DuallyMike I hope they work out your problems. It is not a good idea to walk on, breath on or step on these slides while they are in. I was told this when I purchased my first slide out unit. Maybe you were never told this. But, yes they should be stronger, but keep in mind, the manufacture tries to remove as much weight as they can and this sometimes leads to poor quality or weak components. It does look like they are at least trying to Fix your problems. So, stick with it, I know it will not give you a warm and fuzzy, but I'm like you, I just spent a lot of money on this thing and it should be perfect. My best advise I can giv you is to let them fix it to the best of there ability and then never take it back. As the other post mentioned, a lot of us have taken it upon ourselves to fix these problems. I am one of the more mechanically inclined as they call it and can fix most anything. UNfortunately I fix it to my liking, and someone else may not like the way it was done. But if I fixed it, I know it was fixed and if it breaks again, I have to fix it again.

I can give you another example of poor qualiy components on these trailers and that is the stupid window in the entry door. You know what I am talking about, all of these are the same. They screw a window into the door with a plastic frame and a plastic/fiberglasee door. I can't get over the engineering that went into these, but they will never stay tight and the frame will get lose and the glass will fall down in the frame. So, to take care of this I took a tube of DAP clear silicon caulk and went all the way arount the inside and outside of the window and frame. Now I know the window will never get lose, LEAK and fall in the frame again! Easy FIX!

And Ya'll notice I said I took the fireplace itself back, RIGHT? I am not about to let them touch my camper unless I am there watching their every move! It is the same way if I was to have someone do a repair in my house. Which doesn't happen very often!
