A Checklist!!! But it's really essential.
After retiring from 39 years in aviation, I've always had the checklist habit. We made one for the interior and exterior, for departure and arrival, departure being the more important one. One of us does all the inside stuff while the other does all of the outside stuff. Then we take the checklist and doubly check each others' work. It's amazing the things you can forget.

For the outside: The comfiest chairs your budget will allow (take away my LaFuma & you're taking your life in your own hands. ). Small table to put by said comfy chair. Small squirrel cage fans to keep the breezes blowing & the bugs away. Interior: small space heaters if you winter camp at all. It's a matter of when, not if, you'll run out of propane or the heater will mess up. Blender, cork screw, bottle opener & plenty of cups - 'nuff said. Storage bay: Duct tape & a good basic set of tools.
I agree that the weather radio is pretty much an essential for most of the country.

I have learned the hard way, so put a key where you can use it if you lose yours of get locked out of your vehicle. I doubted I would ever need it, but oh boy, did I ever. Just do it to be sure.

Here is another cheap but effective add on.
Those bugs that sacrifice themselves on the front caps of our trailer are also ingested into the fronts of our trucks.
Last year, after reading about the bugs of Alaska & before setting out on our ownn AK trip & spent a couple $ in Lowes & bought a roll of nylon window screen.
I covered the grill with the screen & attatched it with zip ties thinking that I would remove it upon our return to the lower 48.
A year later that screen is still there very effectively stopping the bugs from getting lodged in the radiator where they cannot be doing anything to enhance cooling of the engine.

We always take a rake with us. We've used it everytime we've gone camping. Generally because someone before us was inconsiderate and left litter (bottle caps, cigarette butts, etc.) scattered around or just to clean up little twigs & rocks that are in the walking area so you don't step on them in your bare feet (I know - wear shoes!! lol)
We also always take, cards, dice & a couple of board games. We've had some great times and have also met & made some great friends playing some simple games sitting around in the evening.

So between our first shake-down trip and our current, week-long trip to AZ I have invested in the following:
A total of 3 sets of orange blocks
A medium-sized ceramic heater with digital thermostat (Set at 65F and it keeps the TT plenty warm without being on all night long, even with 25F temps outside)
A speed socket for my cordless drill to put the stabilizers down.
A set of tools that includes the square bits
An air compressor with a 3-gallon tank that fits in the storage in the nose
A sewer extension
A 90-degree fitting for the city water hookup
A foam mattress pad for the queen bed - Adds comfort and insulation!
An indoor/outdoor thermometer with the sensor under by the frame
That's all I an think of right now. I do want to get one of those ladders that collapse into about a 4x4 or 5x5 square.
