Well we pulled the trigger on Saturday and ordered a new Jayco 19H. We're pretty excited and have already reserved a site at a local beach side campground for 2 weeks after it is supposed to be delivered.
My question now is, what electric brake control to get? I have an '01 Explorer for the TV and I want to get an appropriate brake controller. It seems like they run from cheap to really expensive. I want to be safe but I don't want to spend more money than is really necessary to get the job done.
Advice?

Prodigy is the most popular here in this forum...we had one in the last truck and it worked great. Easy set-up and adjustment.

i've always had one of the cheap ones just because i didn't know any better. last time i traded trucks, i went with a Curt brand just because that's what the guy sold where i had the hitch installed. it was about twice what the cheap ones were but the differance is day light and dark. the Curt works that much better. i'm sure the prodigy or whatever most others here use is even better, but i'm just saying a little more money will get you a lot better controler.

The "best" one is either the integrated brake controllers from Ford or Chevy or the BrakeSmart or MaxBreak - both tap into the hydraulic lines and sense hydraulic pressure on the TV...
The Tekonsha Prodigy and P3 are the most popular as they are easy to install and do a pretty good job overall but for the "best" go either BrakeSmart, MaxBrake, or the integrated controllers in various Ford/Chevy trucks...

My Prodigy is great! I tow 3 different trailers and a flick of the finger adjusts it for each of them.
When I moved it from my '03 to my '07 GM Dually, it was a simple swap.

for under $100, you can't beat the Prodigy! love mine and was an easy install.
does your Explorer have the v-8 or v-6? and did it come with the tow package?
with either, you'll need a WDH. i recommend the Equal-i-zer or Reese Dual-Cam. both have built-in sway control.
