I am in the process of selecting a new extended warranty plan for our coach. The Prizm plan looks attractive but would like any inputs from those with experience with it.

This isn't the answer you want, but, DON'T BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!!!
Do a search here and you will find dozens of horror stories re warranties. Deposit the amount you would have paid into a savings account and pull it out when your coach needs repairs. You will be way ahead.

Extended warranties contracts have too much wiggle room built into the fine print. You will be happy with the contract if there is NEVER a claim but watch out if you really need the coverage. As said, put the premiums in a bank account. IMHO

If your coach is over 5 model years old, most all extended warranties has so many exclusions that they are basically useless. At 5 years, most will not cover seals and gaskets on any engine or drive train components. This is their out to deny any claims for repair since most problems can be linked to a leaking component, or an abused component. Overheating a transmission is considered abuse and is not covered, according to one individual that posted here. Save your money.

Prizm was one of the better extended service companies, BUT and read this carefully, they were sold just recently to another company and there is no track record to go by now. IMHO, rgatijnet1 has the best reply and you need to heed his advice. I will not purchase an extended service contract just for the reasons the he specified.

Hmmm, let's see....Caterpillar C-7 engine $15,000, Allison 3000MH transmission $8,000, Onan 7.5 KW diesel generator $5,000, 12 cu.ft. 4-door Norcold refrigerator $4000, motorhome shop labor $120/hr. Makes the warranty premium seem almost worth it.

Generally speaking, they are not a good investment. These companies pay huge commissions on these products. Do the math its not a good deal but some people need that peace of mind or need to learn the hard way.

When was the last time an entire engine or tranny was replaced as opposed to servicing? Those prices may be valid but not what one would see in a real world repair.

WHY?

Also, by law they are not a "warranty" they are a service contract, nothing more. If they refuse to pay or go out of business you out of luck unless you sue in civil court.

If you are one to believe you will always win at the Las Vegas tables then perhaps one of these service contracts will be ideal for you.
