We have a 2007 Honda EU 2000i generator that we seldom use. Recently I filled the tank and the idle would rev up and down and often stall wen we would start to draw electricity from it for our TT. The oil was a little low, so I changed it with new SAE 30 weight (manufacturer recommendation) but it is still having the same problem. I looked up the fuel filter in the Honda owners' manual. It said for fuel filter issues take it to the dealer. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do, besides taking it to the dealer?

Carburetor is gummed/varnished up... Try running some SeaFoam or Techron thru it - available at most Auto Stores...

I was out to the Honda dealers today and they told me to dump all the gas out of mine and go to this certain gas station that they had gas with out ethanol in it. it's the ethanol that is causing all the hard starts and rough idle, gumming up the carbs etc. I also talked to my neighbor, his wife works in the office of this certain gas station and he rides motor cycles, any way she is saying a lot of people are buying this gas and here in Oregon the ethanol is getting hard to get, and it won't be long before all the gas they sell at this station will be ethanol free. There are just not enough companies making ethanol any more, so many have gone out of business due to the economy. wouldn't that be nice???? Now, all you nay sayers can debunk this statement if you like, and I'm sure you will.

No ethanol would be fine by me after my experience with ethanol this week in the MH. It would be just one less was to waste our money on a bad idea.

Here in BC I just noticed a Sign at My usual Gas Station advising that All Gas sold here in the near Future WILL be 10% Ethanol. I sure Hope Not as from what I have been reading it plays h***l with Fuel Systems in many Gas powered items!

I agree with you about the Ethanol causing problems.Low sulphur diesel is also causing problems. But I would also agree your carb could use some cleaning. I have used seafoam with good results. Fill your tank with fresh gas add some cleaner and let it run a few hours.
