Hi All.

Are you turning on a vent in the kitchen when your frying. And as far as re-using old oil from cooking before, thats a no no anyways. We only use oil one time only. We do almost all types of cooking outside, on the BBQ or on the Cloeman Cook Stove. We only use the cook top burners for very light fast stuff. Or we use the Microwave, or cook in the oven. We have never used the stove Range Hoods Fan while cooking. I installed Gold Series Shurflo Fans in the Kitchen and one over the bed in the loft. And a Silver Shurflo in the Bathroom. These Fans take care of any oder issues really nice. Our 5er is 13 years old, and still has that almost new smell to it. I keep all three of our vents open all year long. Keeps the 5r always smelling fresh and clean. Good Luck. Happy Camping. Dan & Jill

By now, you know oil is not really an item to economize on.
While fresh fried taco shells are nice, they do stink. Try dry Ortega white corn pre-bent shells. They are quick, don't stink, and with good filling, make a pretty good taco

In the stix house we always used white vinegar for ridding odors - wipe down the stove, the vent, etc with vinegar - and sometimes I have left a small flat bowl out on the cupboard with vinegar in it.

All good ideas - coffee grounds, vinegar, and airing it out - which I'm going to do. Next time - to make things easier - precooked taco shells or I'm just going to soften them in the oven or microwave.

The ozone generator thing will fix your problem. Hospital supply and rental places have them.

I do my share of frying,....naturally. I use fresh peanut oil, and turn on all the vent fans. These types of odors don't bother me, BUT it's best to take precautions,....do NOT want to see the 'pointy finger'...
We catch, and eat, white perch (some people call them "krawh-pee"), and for THAT I use my outdoor propane fryer.

On our last camping trip I made tacos. They were delicious but the smell of the frying oil is still in the RV. What do you do to remove odors? I've cleaned everything well and even sprayed Fabreze on the carpets, upholstery, and lambrikens but the odor comes back. Maybe I should open up all the windows during the day and see if that helps. It's already getting cold here. Days in the upper 40's and nights in the low 30's. Help!

Try making soft tacos. Heat the tortillas over the open flame on the stove. No smell and unlike the hard shell ones they don't fall apart when you bite into them.

I agree - I do that at home to save calories, so will do that next time. DH says it goes against his purist Mexican heritage to eat a store bought taco shell.

I guess we must be in the minority here. We cook in the RV just like we do at home. The smell of bacon, tacos, french fries, etc. in the RV doesn't bother us at all. We're bothered more by the neighbors cigarette smoke blowing in our open windows.
