An air compresser of some type is the back bone of any workshop. I have a 60 gal. 240 volt bolted to the floor in the corner of the shop. It is piped throughout the 1200 sq.ft. shop with PVC. It runs all my air tools for both mechanical and wood working projects. I upgraded from a portable last year. I am now shopping for a small one I can carry around when I am out working in some remote corner of my property.

I had a compressor before I had a camper, but when I built my new garage the first thing I put in there was a Fridge, then a compressor!

Compressors are nice, those some here seem to be compressor compulsive (3 and 4 units).
What I don't understand is bringing a 120v commercial grade compressor with your camping. 
Before every camping trip, I usually have to top off my tires a few PSI. My little Ryobi cordless inflator does that in a few minutes. It then goes in the back of the truck, where it is there for emergencies, but is NEVER used during a camping trip.
If you need a shop duty compressor to keep your tires up when camping, I think the real solution is to SERIOUSLY look into a new set of tires! 
Sorry, I just don't get the concept of bringing half you garage workshop (compressors, leaf blowers, impact guns, etc) camping with you. 
Then again, I used to backpack, so I know the meaning of "bare minimums".

For me the compressor came way before the TT. I do like to tinker in the garage alot so I needed one long long ago. There are just so many uses for handy compressed air I would not be without one. Besides the most obvious use of maintaining proper tire inflation on my vehicle(s) they also come in handy for:
1) Blowing the leaves and debris up and out from my bathroom vent screen (from the inside with fan on). Smart people have vent covers
2) Winterizing the TT. Most people use antifreez
3) Blowing the dust out of offroad air filters (and the vacuum cleaner canister filter). No off road filter here
4) Blowing solvent of of freshly cleaned parts. No parts here
5) Cleaning around spark plugs before removing so crud doesn't fall down into the cylinder. My spark plugs go 100,000mi, Dealer does my tune up
What other uses do you people have for your compressors? list them here and let's hear em.

This is funny - if someone mentioned tires then I missed it .....
And personally - when my wife and I were discussing whether to get a trailer or not - if I had said "we need a compressor first" ..... I think I'd have been taken away by the folks in white coats .....
I did get a "compressor" after we bought the trailer - 12 volt - tiny - goes in the tool box - does everything I need it to do (that's right - tires) ....

Compressors are handy. I use mine in the garage to blow dust off lamp shades. Works really well. Tip: Wash your hands really good before you blow the shades, especially if you just finished changing the oil in your tractor. Never mind how I know that.

I had 4 Quincy industrial compressors I bought at a sale, sold as scrap… one was a refrigerated (air dryer) model and two were just the compressors still brand new and crated, and a box full of parts and rebuild kits… the company had switched all of their air dryers to a desiccant type several years earlier and these were their spares that they sold when they cleaned out the storage area…
I sold all of them since I had little need for them but still have four compressors. one tank type, one tank less, and two 12 volt…
