Correct me if I'm wrong here..... The OP stated that he has a 3500 SRW Dodge. Last time I checked, the 3500 was a 1 ton truck. The OP could always throw a dual wheel conversion on it and mount the fenders. Without knowing exact specs of the Dodge, IE, trim, options, 4WD, 2WD, Gearing, ect, there is now way of giving accurate information. Also, we would need the EXACT weights of the 5th wheel to give him an accurate answer. If it were me, I would be looking at the F450 to tow that 5er. You migh be able to do it with the 350 with the towboss package but it would still be close.
To the OP.... your sig says 2500, your post says 3500..... which is it?

3500 SRW is a 1 ton..quite a bit of difference in GVWR between the two,at least it is with the GM..1 tonSRW is 9800#, with the Dually it's 11,400#...I, like you recommend he go to a bigger truck or a lighter 5er...pretty simple.

Re-read my post........ in the post, he stated a 3500.... in his sig, he states 2500. I believe I made that clear in my above post. NC kept referring to a 2500, the OP said 3500. I simply want to know which truck he has.

The only difference in his 2500 CTD and the 3500CTD would be the springs and frame contacts. The rest of the truck is the same. I think you need the exact weights though since you're pushing the limits. If you decide a dually is in your future, I'd look into a conversion myself. Can't be that hard for Dodges.

In his sig. he shows a 3/4 ton truck. He's talking about a 3500 SRW..Either way, the 17,500GVW of the Mobile Suite is too heavy for the truck..didn't say the Cummins couldn't handle it...but there's a reason they badge trucks 2500, 3500 SRW, 3500DRW, 4500 etc....and each one has it's applications....The MS is one heavy 5er with a pinweight well over 3,000#...

We just sold our perfectly good F250 diesel and bought an F350 dually with the Tow Boss package for our Mobile Suites...and it's only a 32TK3 with a supposed empty pin weight of 2400#. The 250 would have been okay with the overall weight, but the pin weight was just way too much for us to feel comfortable with anything less than a dually, even though ours is the shortest/lightest Mobile Suites made.

Any current dually will handle the trailer nicely. And a F350 Tow boss isn't anymore capable than the Dodge's or Chevy's. The Dodge and GM 6 speed autos make up for the Tow Boss's gearing due to having two overdrive gears vs. Fords 5 speed tranny with one overdrive.

Interesting to note that on the SOITC (DRV products club) forum, there is minimal time spent talking about this issue. There are a significant number using all forms of P/U from 2500HD's up to full bore class 8 semi's. to tow all models of their trailers into the 43' range. Go figure?

Going by the stated weights on the trailer label and door stickers of trucks would leave one to conclude a 450 series is needed for everything they make other than the shorter Select's and Mobile's. Elite models have granite up the Ying-Yang making them significantly heavier to begin with.

Isn't the "Tow Boss" option on recent MY F-350's good for a GCVWR of 26000 lbs.? The OP mentions in his message the '05 Ram 3500 SRW. I have that truck, The RAWR is only 6295 and the GCVWR with the 48RE is 23000.
The stock 265/70R17 tires are rated at 3195. I tow an '05 HitchHiker ll/LS with my truck. Ready for travel (with only 20 gal. potable water in the tank and maybe 3 gal. in the black tank) the combination scales at 20540 gross combined weight with a of pin weight of 2214. I'm thinking the MS model he mentions might be a real stretch w/ an SRW, if not simply too heavy on pin weight for the truck.
