At the risk of a here is my question: Is there any problem with walking inside on the slide out portion when it is closed? I was wondering about the support beneath when closed vs when it is extended.

No problem. We use the sofa and the dinette when the slide is in. Probably it is more supported in than out.

Welcome aboard!

Only problem might be the propensity for tripping in some models

My slide floor leading edge raises up about 2" at the end of the closing cycle, so walking on it would be a no no for me. I suppose it just depends on the mechanics of your particular rig. Is the floor of the slide sitting solidly on the floor of the trailer? If so, it seems it would be OK to walk on it.

Mine is like alpenlighter's... I can walk on it but not at the extreme edge - have to careful... Still doesn't pose much of an issue or problem for us as we are aware of that fact when we're in it...

Mine is like alpenlighter's and LAAdams' on our '09 Jayco. Dealer told us to not walk on it while it is in. The dinette/couch seems to be worse than the rear bunk, but we we won't walk on either. Can make it a bit of a challenge when travelling and needing to get to the fridge.

What does the owners manual say?

My living room slide out has two large warning labels on the top frame warning of potential damage by walking on it while retracted. It's the kind that pulls up and in.

My bedroom slide pulls only straight in and can be used and walked on while retracted.
